Happy Birthday James!
Happy Birthday James! I can’t believe how time flies. You were my very first impression of what it would be like to have a child. Living with you and your Mom was a time in my life I will always look back on and smile. You’re an incredible soul and I love you with all my heart! I have memories that I will cherish forever! You’re my Best friends child, it doesn’t get much better than that! I wish you the BEST Birthday ever! Be safe always and never live with any regret…any big regret! lol I can’t believe your 21! Your Mom and I were in Australia when I turned 21 and all I can say is YIKES! I know you’re more mature than we ever were, crossing my fingers right now in hopes you are! xo
Watching you play your guitar and sing is a highlight in times we have spent together. (playing hide the stinky socks was fun too) (Wiping your butt @ 3 I could have done without, I was totally set up on that! ย lol) You are amazing! When I am missing you I drop in to your Facebook page not to creep or judge but to get myย James fix. I always love it when you link to music.
I love finding new music. I should clarify, new music for ME. I have been know to be stuck when it comes to tunes, and this is a perfect example, I will admit I thought Train was New! I am not up to date with the music world and couldn’t sing a song in tune if my life depended on it, but I’m willing to at least give it a try. I went off on Facebook saying I recorded myself singing “Hey Soul Sister” but I regret to tell you, it’s wayyy too embarrassing to post. I know what I like, I just don’t know who they are and the name of the song. I also have a tendency to play my new favourite songs to death, drives everyone around me crazy. I think maybe subconsciously I hope I will be able to remember the song if I hear it a bazillion times, no such luck. Thanks James for the music links.ย I would love to hear your version of this song, I know it would be incredible.
Happy Birthday James, enjoy every moment of the day it’s all about celebrating YOU and that is something to celebrate!!! We love you! A-T and family! xo
Crank it up ~

What a nice happy birthday message and tribute.
Love the pic of James (from what I can guess), teaching your boy to play guitar. Very cool. Our children can never have too many role models and having music in your life is such an important thing.
Love this tune and for someone who almost claims to ‘not know music’, you picked the perfect tune for this post. I seen Train live in Toronto many moons ago, and I have always loved their music. Love the ukulele in the background. I think I want one now to go with my harmonicas. lol
Don’t worry either. I find I am way behind the times and I really love music. I think I am more in the indie music times now though. So many acts that shoudl be heard daily on our airwives, lost in space.
I too play music to death (and movies). I am not aloud to watch ‘Walk the Line’, or listen to the soundtrack. They wore out their welcome in my house. I would probably wear out this song too if I had a copy of it. Very ‘soulful’ beat to it. Great video too.
Cheers Tracy. Great post as always.

It makes me laugh at how similar we are at times! I’d let you watch ‘Walk the Line’, love that movie! hee hee. If it were funnier and not as embarrassing I would have posted my version for sure! I didn’t think I was awful, just not great! (that’s my opinion not that of any other person living in this household!) lol T x

You freaked me out for a split second, I thought that maybe just maybe I screwed up and posted the YouTube video I did singing and you found it! Heart attack! lol love the Ukulele too! Thanks Lawrence! ๐

That would have been funny. I wouldn’t have done that to you though. Maybe?
I think you just need to close your eyes, say what the (you know, Risky Business), and hit send.
“Sometimes you just have to say, what the …” Well, you know. ๐

You always make me smile out loud! I might think about sending it to you for a laugh, now that’s trust! ๐ …maybe! lol

I also play songs to death when I first hear them and download them to Itunes. Its one of the worst things for me because I often get sick of the songs and complain that there are new good songs out.
Oh you NEED to post that youtube video just for kicks. I have recorded singing songs and oh my goodness I am a terrible singer. I try but I guess trying isnt good enough. lol
Happy Birthday James!

I might do it Sam, but it’s missing something, not sure what but I need more time! Glad I am not the only one who plays songs to death. But how come I still don’t know the words? That’s a serious question! As a kid in choir I used to mouth the words and not really sing so maybe my memory for music never kicked in? hmmm
Lawrence
I print the lyrics off so I can read them a few times to make sure I ‘know’ all the lyrics. Sometimes it’s hard to catch what some of the words are, so getting them right the first time and then singing along from that point on, the more you sing it the more you’ll remember it. There are songs from my childhood that I obviously sung so much, I still remember all the words are at least a good portion of them.
Perhaps your version needs a little harmonica. ๐
