2014 The Year of Being Content!

IMG_6589
IMG_6568Relaaaaaax…what could go wrong? We spend so much time thinking and not doing, holding back, not taking chances. We fear the unknown, we hide our eyes, we no longer seek the truth, we wait and worry.

Music takes me to that far away place my soul calls home. As I savour a glass of red and write that ember that hides deep within my existence starts to grow. I must admit life feels rather good at the moment. I am open. I am free. I seek the truth and drift into the clouds.

It’s healthy to escape the chaos…necessary even. Music is the instrument that helps me get there. I can feel myself letting go of all the trivial things that build up throughout the day as I sit surrounded by a melody. I have a warm glow radiating from a place that has felt dormant lately, a place I can usually escape to in a moment of silence. Silence, a place becoming extinct within us. A place we don’t visit often enough. Finding that silence is like going home.

The evening starts to unravel as my thoughts dance with my imagination. The sound escorts my worries away. In this moment I let go. I am able to quiet the noise and hear the beauty in my solitude. Free of everything that keeps me grounded, It’s time to sit amidst the clouds and contemplate my existence once again.

I think we all need to sit and remember that our time here is limited, before we know it we will be moving on. Times up, take chances, do what you love, make a difference, change a life, share, give, love. Just be, no judgment, no worry, no restrictions, no boundaries, float through the day with whomever crosses your path.

Be open to the sound of silence.

I have relaxed a great deal over the years but lately I feel different. I feel content to share the room, or not. I don’t feel as though I should be doing anything other than what I am, right now in this moment. I have surrendered to the Universe with not a worry in the world.

This magical ride we call life is ours to create. We choose who we share it with. We choose where we explore. We choose.

Entice all your senses as your journey begins in a New Year where endless possibilities are waiting to be uncovered.

Listen, See, Feel, Touch, Taste, Trust and most of all Love with your entire Heart ~

Happy New Year!

Expose Yourself

Expose yourself screenshot
625565_10151296502307032_1928783634_nBonnie exposed herself last week…don’t rush and click the link to see a naked picture of her, I mean emotionally.

Women tend to share their fears and insecurities with other women, which takes courage and confidence. You take the chance of being judged. Occasionally we meet a man with whom we feel this comfort and we have the best of both worlds. Men on the other hand don’t share quite as easily with their mates as the female energy does. Men are brought up to be manly which unfortunately in society eyes doesn’t always include the expression of emotions. I want a man who can chop wood AND express his thoughts, desires, love, dreams, fears and insecurities <—–to be clear that is not my whole list of what I want my man to be 😉 There is nothing more liberating than being with someone you can say anything to regardless of how intimate or wildly crazy it may seem. When we feel safe, we share. When we share we build trust. Without trust we have nothing.

True raw emotions I believe should be shared. I am guilty of being too much of an open book at times, so balance is important. I am working on keeping my inner feelings to myself a tad longer, just in case they are hormone based shooting out of left field without any prior notice what-so-ever. It’s a struggle let me tell you! I wouldn’t be in some of the predicaments I find myself in if I kept my trap shut a little longer! Live and learn.

However…Our truth is who we are, like it or leave it. When we cease to share who we are, we stand still. It’s super safe…but a bit boring! We miss out on intimacy and moments that will allow us to grow with or without a partner. When we take a chance, the reward can be simply delicious! This is where balance comes in. Keeping a little bit of yourself for a rainy day kinda logic by balancing our truth and living in the moment pure and raw. It doesn’t matter how honest you want to be, sometimes it’s best to keep that thought close to your heart, even for a nanosecond longer before diving face first for that muddy landslide of fun and adventure. <~~~ You have to admit that sounds wayyyyy better than being in the safety zone! So Captain Careful (that’s me) suggests wearing safety goggles before you dive? Excuse me while I go shower off the mud on my face!

When I was in my twenties I wasn’t able to communicate well (go figure!) out of fear of being judged or left for that matter, so I didn’t say much of anything. Sadly in the end the relationship ended because I didn’t communicate, so holding back my words gave me the same result. Fear and insecurities come from a place when we are learning about life and who we are. They sit stagnant within our DNA waiting for a opportunity to expose themselves if we let them. I have worked hard on learning how to communicate well but every now and then I fear being judged and left and I raise my walls and stop communicating to avoid the inevitable! When you search back to the root or beginning of a fear we are able to face those fears and move on from them. “Fear is the Thief of Dreams” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

We all have insecurities and fears as Bonnie mentioned hers being the importance of what people think of her. Valid insecurity, we all want to be liked as human beings. We strive to be accepted and loved. Life is meant to be shared and no one wants to be left alone in life to fend for themselves forever! forever…forever…forever…forever.

I am in the process of facing a few fears of my own. What I have learned in the process is this…I am a survivor, I am able to take care of myself and family all by myself…if need be! I know I don’t have to, if I would just learn to use my words and ask for help when I need it. I am strong, independent, self sufficient and I can do it alone but I am far from alone! I have a huge circle of male and female energy that if I reached out to, would be there with strength and a smile willing to help me.

Sooooo, judge me not unless you have walked in my shoes. Leave me if you choose. I will stand amongst my circle of true companions and live my life in the moment the best way I know how! Knowing I can survive on your own is empowering, admitting I don’t want to is my truth.

Painting Our Canvas in Life!

lifeisacanvas-piccsydotcom Photo on 13-01-30 at 2.43 PMLife can be unpredictable and change completely from one moment to the next. We never really know how long we have. We don’t know for sure what happens next. There are no guarantees in life as to where our path will lead us or who will walk beside us on our journey. I do believe we meet individuals along the way that guide us and teach us not only about life but about ourselves. Every now and then we meet someone who changes us in a powerful way. They remind us to live in the moment and trust.

“The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them.” ~Ernest Hemingway

Would you enter into a relationship knowing that it had a pending time limit attached to it? I would. Life is about the essence of time we have with someone regardless of the clock ticking in the distance. If you knew your partner only had a certain amount of time left on this planet, wouldn’t you live each day different? Time passes by so quickly and we all get side tracked in life and forget to ‘live’. We hold onto things that really don’t matter. We don’t always make the most of our life experiences.

You are the only one who can paint the picture you wish your life to be. Be BOLD, making every stroke count whether you choose broad or delicate ones! You decide which colours of the rainbow to add to your canvas. Dip your brush fearlessly and see your picture come alive! Your brush is an extension of you, the paint is a mix of life experience and those we meet along the way. It’s up to you to create the picture that is as unique as you are.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”  ~Oscar Wilde

Have you ever experienced moments in time where you had to pause and capture an overwhelming visual imagine in your memory, knowing it was seconds away from passing? Moments like this only happen when you let go and allow yourself to see and feel what life has to offer. Moments forever in our minds, memories we keep forever!

Every now and then we get a little reminder of how magical life really is. The beauty is all around us if we have the courage to open our eyes and let our life wash over us. Only then can your picture be painted in it’s truest form.

What ever you are doing, stop and look around you. Touch the person beside you or smile at the woman across the room. Connect with another human being! Take the chance that your heart will be touched like never before, even if it doesn’t last forever it will still stay with you as long as you choose to nurture the thought and energy that goes along with it.

“Thoughts become things, choose the good ones” ~ Notes from the Universe.

Crossing Paths ~

I love the word Serendipity, don’t you? Serendipity means ‘a happy accident or pleasant surprise; specifically, the accident of finding something good or useful while not specifically searching for it’.

Every now and then someone crosses our path, changing the course of our day. Our spirits are lifted and we are left feeling as though we were meant to meet. We may never lay eyes on one another again but the moments we share change us or even possibly the path we are on with that one chance meeting.

There is the flip side of that…you meet someone and wonder what lesson you were supposed to learn from them crossing your path. An accident or mishap is ‘an unforeseen and unplanned event or circumstance, often with lack of intention or necessity. It usually implies a generally negative outcome which may have been avoided or prevented had circumstances leading up to the accident been recognized, and acted upon, prior to its occurrence.’ Accidents generally happen when we are unfocused in life. Makes sense right?

Lets not focus on accidents even thought we learn from them.

I’ve had more than a few serendipitous moments, chance meetings or crossing of paths over the years. I stop what I am doing and just be in the moment open to accept their gift to me. They are my gift.

I met a beautiful elderly lady named Mary at work the other night, we connected instantly. She shared her wisdom and insight with me about life and love. She actually said “I don’t know why I’m telling you all of this but your like my daughter.” Her advice was to always keep my independence (I have) and to never make my ‘man’ my best friend. I was to keep my feminine side to myself, to remain a bit of a mystery. She told me it was vitally important to live each day happily and be true to myself. I was to not ‘fill’ my cup up to the top but was to leave some space. If your cup is bubbling over, there is no room. ;)I hugged Mary before she left. I glowed for the rest of the night! Mary crossed my path for a brief moment in time, but left me feeling grateful she did. Thank you Mary!

Another moment in time that changed the course of my day happened when I was shopping at my local grocery store. I didn’t feel like being seen by anyone because I had puffy eyes from crying during the day. As I walked through the isles my mind wandering in a daze. I didn’t have my usual smiley eyes or big cheesy grin because I wasn’t feeling very good about myself. I got in and out as quick as humanly possible. I left the store with my arms weighed down to the max with bags or groceries. As I went to cross the parking lot a man drove past me and lowered his window, leaning across his passenger seat to talk to me. He said “have you been told?” I looked confused through my puffy eyes at him for a moment and replied “pardon me?” I struggled and adjusted my load of groceries, and he said again “have you been told today?” I paused and replied “told what?” My mind could only imagine what he was going to say…“god your eyes are puffy, did you know your ass looks fat in those pants?” He smiled and looked right into and past the puffiness and said “you look absolutely beautiful today.” My entire body let go of what I was holding onto. I smiled and thanked him, knowing I looked like crap. I believe he was aware of how I was feeling and took the opportunity to change the course of my day. Thank you complete stranger for being aware of another human beings existence who needed a kind word at that moment.

Everyone who walks into our lives, crossing our path, whether it’s for a brief moment in time or years, can teach us something. Being open and aware of others, reaching out and acting on your instinct will change the course of someones day.

Be kind to your fellow humans, they may need it more than you know!

The photo I used is called Crossing Paths by an artist named Crispin Korschen. She is an artist, mother, daydreamer and lover of all things beautiful and quirky. The description of her painting above is this…

Crossing Paths ~ our lives can take us to extraordinary places and across the paths of people we may never have imagined…….sometimes I get so caught up in my life that I forget to take the time to stop and spend time with people during those crossings.

Taking Down Our Walls ~

Before I get into my post I’d like to thank Lawrence for adding his voice to Tara Cronica as a Guest blogger on Monday. Lawrence wrote, How Will Your Smile Inspire, which was about his experience of putting himself back out in the world of being single after being in what I call the ‘cocoon of marriage.’ I love your honest approach to writing Lawrence! Thank you!

Which brings me to my post…

Walls, we all have them. I know I do, I visualize mine as pink! Pink says there is a woman behind there that is strong yet vulnerable, who wants to feel safe and protected. Walls can do that, so can alarms systems and dogs…okay, so can human beings if you’re willing to take the chance. I was recently reminded of the walls I have built so beautifully around myself. I was told that it was time for me to let them down, once and for all! Anyone who reads Tara Cronica or All Thing Sexy and Silver would wonder what walls?

I’ve lost out on more than one relationship in my past because of my walls and not having the ability to express myself. I was not comfortable with feeling vulnerable, but who is? I think deep down we all know we have walls up but when someone points it out to you it’s like putting a spot light on the big pink elephant in the room. It takes over your mind until you acknowledge it and decide you are going to do something about it. Walls go deep beneath the soil to your personal foundation, and below that to the fears that erected the walls in the first place. Only then, when you can identify what the root of the problem is, can your walls be taken down, brick by brick.

Fear is the Thief of Dreams ~Gandhi.

When we experience hurt or pain we justify our walls allowing them to rise higher than before. We use our pain as a scape goat to not face our truth, our fear. When we don’t face our fears we remain behind our walls morphing them into a shield that we learn to carry with us, blocking us from life experience. When we let go of our fears we open ourselves surrendering to what life truly has to offer.

My walls get a fresh coat of paint when feeling surface in a relationship. Feeling vulnerable is the first sign that you care for someone. Allowing yourself to feel vulnerable is a step forward. Embracing it for all it is and what it stirs inside you is a huge jump in the right direction! Not everyone has good intention so it can be hard. Vulnerablity lurks behind us like a shadow…waiting to jump out and scare us back behind our fortress! It feels so safe inside our walls I often wonder why anyone would even dream of taking them down. There is a pay-off when you do, it’s called Intimacy. I am a strong believer that you grow when you step out of your comfort zone. Take chances, live with no regret, feel all emotion, experience love and loss! Life is Meant to be Shared not hidden from behind walls.

We are all a work in progress in this marvellous thing we call life. It can feel hard to navigate at times on our own. That is why we need to share ourselves with others. I have learned a great deal about myself through those who I’ve connected with over the years. Never underestimate the power of a connection, no matter how small it may seem in the moment. We enter each others lives for a purpose, teaching and learning from one another.

I know the walls that have protected and sheltered me from my fears deep inside are just a facade. I have become aware of them and in doing so I can comfortably let them down. I choose to be open, no wall between me and life experience. I still want a symbolic wall in my life, that of a man who will wrap his strength around me when I need to feel protected, and give me a gentle nudge when I get too comfortable…he will be the only wall I take refuge in.

“You Want Happy Ending?”

“Once Upon a time in a far away land, way up high in the hills there lived a woman who thought a man could make all her dreams come true, and then she woke up with the entire King sized bed to herself. She smiled as she stretched her leg out to the cold spot…Su-weeeeet! ”  It’s all about perspective…

I am no longer looking for a fairytale ending, a ‘happy ending’ would suffice. 😉 When it comes to fairytales it’s not that kind of ending we want, it’s the happily ever after we’re looking for. You have to be happy within yourself if you want to naturally attract someone to join you on the journey to happily ever after, which includes ‘happy endings’ by the way! Good motivation…right?

Focus on where you are right now. What makes YOU happy? I am happy when I am doing something creative, near the ocean, laughing out loud with friends, when I’m healthy, inspiring others and creating memories with my family. Add a great guy to this picture and I am happy, take him out of the picture and hey I’m still happy. Figure out what makes YOU happy first before you add someone else to the mix. A delicious life is irresistible!

I MAKE ME HAPPY ~

Romance for me has always gone hand in hand with happiness. Life is about love and not giving into fear. Fear distances us from real happiness. And romance doesn’t necessarily lead to love. You can’t control who you fall in love with and shouldn’t want to control the one you love.

Fairytales are read to us to give us hope that although life has it’s struggles, we can connect with someone along the way and ‘live happily ever after.’ They allow us to spread our wings as human beings, have faith in love and take chances. They let us believe in something wonderful…for a while until reality rears it’s ugly head!

Even when life has its way of bringing us back to reality, we can find happiness within the chaos. We just need to go back to the basics of being happy within.

Beginning are filled with flirty excitement, passion, lust and desire and all the juicy stuff. Middles are where the lessons are learned, progress is made, evolving and unfolding is done, substance is recognized, bonding occurs and romance takes a step forward towards love. As for the ending, true love has no end.

I am finally happy with who I am and can open myself to romantic adventure that makes my heart beat right out of my chest without the expectation of it being my source of happiness. Happiness starts from within, from there it is completely up to you which direction you go. Ultimately YOU choose whether or not to be happy. Regardless of whether or not there is a man romantically tied to me, I will always choose to be happy. I will live happily ever after…

The End Beginning ~

Inspiration is All Around Us!

I was inspired by Bonnie and John while visiting them in Vernon last week. It’s so obvious when you’re in their presence that they’re still so in-love. I found myself smiling each time I caught them having a moment. It’s awesome to see your best friend happily married to a great man that you absolutely love! They are definitely not edging towards a statistic in their marriage. You can see in their eyes that they appreciate the time they have together. Seizing moments and making each one count. Love is inspiring!

l am inspired by a friend of mine Ryan. I posted about his blog a couple of times when he took an adventure to Africa to become a Safari Guide. Ryan in Africa. He lives life on the edge…his edge, which is much different from everyone else’s! He has such a thirst for life that never quite gets quenched. He’s definitely living while he’s alive! When you’re in his company you can’t help but want to touch him in hopes that his infectious attitude rubs off on you, even just a little bit! He said he “lives life with no fear, apologizes for nothing, doesn’t regret his mistakes, learns from them because sometimes his mistakes produce the best results!” That’s inspiring! Love the man and can’t wait to see where his next adventure takes him. Ryan inspires me!

I am inspired by my friend Kirk who I admire for leaving a great career in special effects in the film industry for music. He followed his passion for music making a career out of it. Sound Lounge Productions a recording studio was born from Kirk following his dream. He took a chance in life that not many would have had the courage to do. Kirk spends his day with creative souls who also have a dream that he helps them reach, how sweet is that! Check out Kirks band SWANK, you’ll love them! He is living proof that if you believe in yourself, work hard and do what you love…they will come! Kirk inspires me continually! He was kind enough to take time out of his busy day to show my kids and I around his studio, it was awesome! His tools are drums, guitars and lots of fun buttons how fun is that! You choice is looking good on ya Kirk! Thank you for the music lesson we loved it immensely! Following your dream is inspiring!

So if you take the time to open your eyes there truly is inspiration all around you! These are just a few things that caught my eye last week. Inspiration comes in so many different forms…what inspires you? Care to share some inspiration with us? Inspiration moves us in the right direction…

I saw this posted on Facebook. It basically summed it up for me and although you may have seen it, it is something you couldn’t possibly read too many times.

Take Chances!

When was the last time you took a chance? Chance; the possibility of something happening. Not gamble; play games of chance for money. Not Risk; a situation involving exposure to danger. I mean a chance in business, friendship or with the opposite sex, that if taken could change everything. We take chances with choices every single day. Sometimes you need to make a choice however before you take a chance.

We take chances on relationships every time we meet someone new. We take a chance that they are who they say they are. Some men/women don’t yet know who they are. They can be a work in progress that lasts a lifetime. To find someone authentic is a breath of fresh air. Knowing who you truly are is a feat not everyone is able to reach. How can anyone be expected to be taken at face value if they don’t know what their value is?

Who are you? A valid question that in time can be answered in depth. That’s where the chance is taken. It’s hard to get to know someone who doesn’t quite know who they are yet themselves. On the other hand it’s easy to get to know someone who does.

When you first meet someone you should throw your expectations right out the window and let them just be who they are. And when they show you who they are believe them! If you think even once…if they would just change____stop and walk away! They are not who you are looking for if you need to change them EVER!

Choices stand directly in front of us, waiting for us to take the chance. Chances come with a feeling of exhilaration. Taking a chance if honesty is present is worth every single moment.

I love taking chances, hate making choices! I usually just go with my instinct. If it feels right do it. Having said that it doesn’t always work out in my favour but at least I try. I’ve tried dipping my toe in life one foot at a time, being cautious and careful. Now I am jumping in with both feet making a splash to see where the water ends up. I am certainly not afraid of getting wet! I think when you trust your instinct, chances are easier to take. The choice is made for you. Everything just happens as it should. Perhaps not always as you thought but as it should have never-the-less. Live and learn.

If you’re trying to make a choice that you think you need to make but it just doesn’t seem clear…leave it for a while. A chance will sometimes appear out of the blue that you can’t turn your back on which will make the choice easy. This is one thing I know for sure!

Here are a few quotes I wanted to share with you about choice and chance…
The way to develop self-confidence is to do the thing you fear and get a record of successful experiences behind you. Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved…William Jennings Bryan.
Leap and the net will appear…Zen saying
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take…Wayne Gretzky.
You can’t build a reputation on what you’re going to do…Henry Ford.
In the end, what we regret most are the chances we never took…Frasier Crane.
Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place…Zora Neale Hurston.
Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we learned here…Marianne Williamson.
Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it…Buddha.
You must be the change you wish to see in the world…Mahatma Gandhi.
Life is ever changing. You never really know your path until you are walking it, still then it’s not always your choice that changes its direction, most important is that you just keep going…Tracy Westerholm.
