Our family moved into a new place and we opted for less of a yard. My has plants and flowers but we like the ones that use less water and cant be living in very hot weather. I like the idea of rocks and low maintenance greens.

I love xeriscaping and want to do more of it...one problem though...my husband. If he had his way he'd have lawns in every square inch. Ya, it's been a bit of an "issue" between us.
At least he's responsible about watering them and, even without having all the rain that you guys have had, he turned off the watering system weeks ago.

Those are staggering statistics. Thanks for sharing this.

I love this post Jacquie, your neighbours are "busted" and so they should be, or perhaps they are unaware? I have been going brown now for years and although I hate the way my lawn looks I have let go of the having to look green all year long. You can tell who waters their lawns beyond the restrictions, it's obvious ~THEY'RE GREEN !!! I fertilize throughout the year to try to perk it up but it still doesn't look bright green !! I have a neighbour, and we all know who he is, who has every power tool on the planet and uses them constantly. He causes so much noise all weekend long because he is either power washing his house, car, driveway, garbage cans, etc etc etc it's a joke to us now. When I see someone spend that much time outside on their driveway I can't help but wonder what are they trying to escape from. I mean, come on, do you really need to 'shop vac' your shrubs that line your driveway? We can all go a little browner to go green, you get used to it! Love the photos you included too !
