Svaha S.S ~ “Gone, Gone, Gone”

As you all know I am a Huge Fan of Phillip Phillips! This is one of my favourite songs from his New Album The World From The Side of The Moon.

I have this CD and love it! I simply couldn’t live without music! Musicians give us such a gift and for that, I am grateful! Gone, Gone, Gone…listen to the words!

Svaha Spirit Series: How to Spot a Liar ~ TEDtalk

We have all been lied to and told more than our share of lies to avoid hurting feelings or getting caught at something you were NOT supposed to be doing in the first place! Can you tell when you’ve been lied to? Have you ever watched the show Lie to Me? It’s really interesting! We all know it’s better to come clean and tell the truth than be caught in a lie. It’s simple really, you can’t forget the truth.

TEDtalks are one of my favourites ways to get lost on the internet. You learn something interesting and the variety is endless. Here is one with Pamela Meyer called How to Spot a Liar. I found it fascinating, not for any particular reason what-so-ever! Just sayin…

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Glaucus Atlanticus

If you have kids, a boy specifically you know what a Pokémon is. I came across this picture and thought it was art. Fascinating don’t you think! Who knew a small sized blue sea slug could be so interesting looking. They can be found throughout the worlds oceans in temperate and tropical water specifically the East and South Coast of South Africa, European water and the East Coast of Australia…oh and in Pokémon comic books!

Isn’t life fascinating! Who knew a slug could be so stunning!

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Postcard from Gusto

My day starts with a ‘Note from the Universe a ‘Postcard from Gusto‘, a message from ‘Abraham‘, a soft toe touch from my daughter who is usually lying next to me, and then around noon a smile and hug from my son. My day just keeps getting better from there!  I choose to ((((((smile))))))

I am a true believer that you choose each day how you want to feel. You also chose your thoughts and as I am reminded by my Note from the Universe each morning…’thoughts become things choose the good ones’. I wanted to share this with you todayLove…

…and here is what was on the back of the Postcard from Gusto~

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Astrology with Debra Silverman!

A Facebook friend of mine had a link on his page for Aries and I as you know I love Astrology so I clicked on it. I spend over an hour watching Debra Silverman ‘being’ each sun sign! She is hilarious! I could relate to a few of her interpretations. I posted a few of my favourites but if your sign is not posted here is the link so you can see how spot on she is with you!

Lead the Change ~

When I originally saw this picture on Facebook I had to share it with all my friends because I loved the quote. I googled The African Yoga Project, which I wrote about yesterday on our Sunday Svaha Spirit Series if you want to be inspired! I have always wanted to join a Yoga class but never seem to find the time, now I plan on making the time because of this project!

Inner Peace and Well-being are what we all strive for, isn’t it? No matter where you live or what you do, race, religion, gender, marital status, we could all benefit from being balanced internally! From within is where our lives are guided…in my opinion.

“What is your gift and are you giving it away?” Everyday we have opportunities to share what we have with those around us. Giving ~ we ‘have’ to give, it’s contagious and changes the energy that surrounds not only the one who gives but the one who receives as well. It creates a ripple effect, an energy that radiates good feelings. I am not just referring to the giving of material items.

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Your gift is as unique as you are. An Artist for example has the gift of creativity, he is able to use his imagination or simply recreate what his eyes see before him. A writers strings the perfect combination of words together that can inspire, captivate, seduce, provoke thought, create change or simply allow us to get lost for a moment in time. A Doctor gives the gift of life or helps us understand when it’s taken away. The Elderly give the gift of life experience to younger generations. Children give the gift of pure naivety we all love and miss as we mature. Each of us is born into this world with a gift worthy of giving, whether it be a story, life experience, support, advice, opinion, love or a simple hug.

Give a smile. Touch someones heart with a kind gesture. Compliment a stranger and see what happens. Encourage someone who appears to be struggling. A few kind words has a way of giving someone the inspiration to go the distance when they didn’t think they could. Giving ones self is so easy and basic.

When you feel balanced internally life flows more naturally. Inner peace and well being starts from within, sometimes it can’t be seen but it can be felt by those around you by the energy you radiate. Yoga is a great start in the right direction!

Lead the Change!

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Another Great TEDTalk

I think this video, a tongue-in-cheek analysis by Sebastian Wernicke could also be translated for bloggers. He show how statistical information can help you create the optimal TED Talk. We use Google Analytics to see what content is viewed more, which days and times have more traffic on Tara Cronica. I like to check it a couple times a week and find it really useful information. Google Analytics stopped working for about three weeks and it drove me crazy! I love seeing what draws more readers in regard to content ect. Bonnie introduced me to TED Talks last year, they are so varied and it’s easy to get lost in them as I did here. Enjoy!

Lies, damned lies and statistics (about TEDTalks)

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Harvard Basket Ball Team Roooooad Trip!

I can only hope that when my son is of age to tour around with his Lacrosse buddies this is the only thing they get into on their road trips! Here’s crossing my fingers and toes to that hope! 🙂 This cracked me up! I thought they were not only cute but very creative for a bus full of Harvard Basket Ball players! Roooooooad trip!

P.S ~ The dude in the back row on the left was apparently sleeping the entire time!

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Inspiration

As you all know my life is full of twists and turns, some I write about and some I keep to myself and those involved. I embrace each one with an open heart and curious mind. I love life and the change it brings. Unpredictable at the best of times!

After reading Bonnie’s post on Friday Celebrating Women, I was inspired to type International Womans Day on my keyboard and came across this video. Watch it for how ever long you choose, it doesn’t matter if you only watch for 2 minutes, you will get something to take with you for the day that will make you smile! I watched it with a horrible head cold, sensitive eyes looking like crap sneezing, coughing, aching, and I still left feeling mentally inspired! There were too many quotes that grabbed me so I won’t even try to pick a favourite, take a look!

Svaha Spirit Series ~ A Precious Human Life

Every now and then you meet someone who changes your attitude just even slightly. I met a beautiful woman with a warm spirit at a little shop in Lonsdale Quay. There were Tibetan Singing Bowls, tapestries and prayer beads, just what I was looking for. I was thrilled to purchase my first set of Mala Beads to do a Japa Meditation. She was just what I needed that day. We stood intimately in her shop talking and when I left she handed me a packet of incense as a gift. I also couldn’t part with a card that had this verse was on it. Enjoy your day everyone! Svaha ~

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Sweet Child O’ Mine ~

I came across Zoe Thomson after checking out another video a friend posted on Facebook. She is so adorable to watch. I couldn’t decide whether to look at her face or hands.

I think we will be seeing more of this little rock star in the future. I would love to be able to play a simple tune…keep a tune for that matter. I love watching anyone create or play music! Check out this little rocker chic! Zoe Thomson playing along with Guns N’ Roses…Sweet Child O’ Mine ~

Zoe Thomson should have her own channel…

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Louie Schwartzbert – Gratitude

A friend of mine on Facebook shared this video and I couldn’t not pass it on to you. You may have seen it but it’s worth watching over and over just for the visual alone. I love TED talks so I wasn’t at all surprised this was one. My favourite so far! Thanks for sharing it Dan!

Louie Schwartzberg is an award winning cinematographer, director and producer whose notable career spans more than three decades providing breathtaking imagery for film, television, commercials and documentaries. He is the only cinema photographer who has been literally shooting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week continuously for more than 30 years! Life is a gift.

“Open your heart to all these blessings and let them flow through you, that everyone you will meet on this day will be blessed by you, just by your eyes, by your smile, by your touch, just by your presence. Let the gratefulness overflow into blessing all around you, then it will really be a good day.”

Puts life in perspective doesn’t it!

Svaha Spirit Series ~ The Greatest Speech Ever Made…

A friend of mine shared this with me and I felt the need to pass it on. It empowered me in a moment that I really needed it.

I started writing in hopes of inspiring others to use their authentic voice to create positive change in their lives. When we create change, even if only in our small circle we become the drop of liquid falling into the large body of water…we ripple across the surface affecting everything around us. I hope it makes you want to go out and change the world as it did me…enjoy!

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Life Looks for Life

Carl Sagan was an astronomer, educator and author. He is well known for his work on the PBS series Cosmos, the Emmy and Peabody award winning show that became the most watched series in public-television history. He died in 1996 of bone marrow cancer but left a legacy that will provoke thought and wonder until the end of time. I don’t think any of us spend enough time star gazing, talking about what is beyond our world. It is a topic I don’t tire of. What is out there? Who is out there? Are we alone? The questions are endless to those who are intrigued and want more than what we can see here in front of us. I was mesmerized by this series…it left me wanting more, much much more.

“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.”
Carl Sagan ~

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Path into the Future

I love any kind of film to do with nature. When someone is passionate about our planet and sets out to make a difference we need to stop and listen to what they have to say. I get goose bumps when I find those individuals who are out there trying to make positive change in our world. Kerri Wolter founded and manages the Vulture conservation program in Magaliesberg, South Africa. She hopes to fly with the endangered Cape Vulture for the first time in an attempt to learn more about their behaviours from the air. Beautiful video with a lovely message…enjoy!

Svaha Spirit Series: IL Volo ~

My Mom sent me the link to this video and I honestly thought it was a prank. I actually googled Il Volo after watching the entire video because I was still in disbelief that the voices I heard were truly theirs. They are!!! What is it about Italian men! Incredible language, passion and sex appeal! I’m moving to Italy!

I am also a fan of Il Divo but they are grown men so they should sound like grown men. These are boys that sound like grown men. I can’t believe this…

And here are the men of Il Divo…enjoy!

Svaha Spirit Series: Teachers ~

We’ve all had teachers in school that made an impression on us. My English teacher Mrs Morton inspired our class because she was so passionate about the English language. I loved creative writing because it allowed personal expression in a class filled with rules. She would probably be horrified at my grammar in some cases but hey blogging is a loose form of writing…in general. I am still learning!

My Math teacher Mr Paulson was compassionate. The only reason I passed his Algebra class was because I tried so hard and he recognized my efforts! I came in everyday after school for help but still didn’t understand it. Sometimes you really do get graded on your effort kids!

Teachers have the opportunity to make a difference in our kids lives. My son and his friend were talking fondly of their teachers on our way home from school which made me smile because I knew exactly how they felt. Teachers make a difference! Taylor Mali is one of those teachers.

I’ve posted this video of Steve Jobs before but since Graduation is just around the corner I thought it was fitting. Enjoy, it’s worth the time I promise you…Pinky swear! 🙂 Stay Hungry…Stay Foolish!

Svaha Spirit Series: Go Inspire Go

Go Inspire Go (GIG) is a multimedia platform that uses Social Networking to inspire social change. They encourage viewers to use their powers, resources, talents and network to help others. That’s just awesome! GIG features inspirational character driven stories that we can all relate to because they are people just like you and I who do small things that create BIG change. Isn’t that what it’s all about! Using your voice to make a difference where a difference is needed!

Lily Gordon was only 10 years old when she reached out to help others. Africa was where Lily was headed to lend a hand. It only takes one small, even young voice as you will see by this video to make change, that’s all, then that one voice inspires another and well you get the picture! Go Lily Go!

Svaha Spirit Series: Khan Academy

Watch. Practice. Learn almost anything – for free. Sal Khan is a pioneer in education! Sal is the founder of the Khan Academy, which is an organization on a mission to make education available to anyone whether you are a student, teacher, home-school-er, principal, or anyone else who wants to learn or relearn a wide variety of educational subjects. It spans from elementary school to university level material. This website will amaze you. I was overwhelmed when I first viewed it, I wasn’t sure where to begin.

What was really fun for me was when I told my 12 year old son about it, he said his friend told him that morning that he HAD to check out the same site! Woot Woot, I am cool…for the moment! Still no singing in the car though! I know what you’re thinking Scott, I bathed in the glory of being the cool Mom and somehow forgot who told me about the link…I will confess to Jess it was you, I just need one more day!

Jess and I clicked on Brain Teasers and listened to one together, we paused as Sal told us so we didn’t get the answer. Sal told us to just think about it for 24-48 hours as he did and the answer would manifest itself if we had patience. But not to my surprise, Jesse sat for all of a minute and told me what he thought was the answer, I couldn’t resist so we listened right away…he was correct! Instant confirmation that my genetic DNA has been passed down to my son! He’s a smarty pants! Okay…he really is a mini you Scott! I got confused and tried to follow but felt like I was back in Consumer Math! But he has my eyes! 🙂 I do love brain teasers but need to have little or no distraction to has success, which is rare these days!

Thanks for sharing this link with me Scott so I could pass it on to our Tara-circle of friends. It was also a great TED Talk. A free world-class education for anyone anywhere! I’ve bookmarked it and know all of you will too!  If you or your kids don’t understand any part of their education it’s an awesome resource that’s available at the click of a button! Check it out!
