Happy Birthday James!

Happy Birthday James! I can’t believe how time flies. You were my very first impression of what it would be like to have a child. Living with you and your Mom was a time in my life I will always look back on and smile. You’re an incredible soul and I love you with all my heart! I have memories that I will cherish forever! You’re my Best friends child, it doesn’t get much better than that! I wish you the BEST Birthday ever! Be safe always and never live with any regret…any big regret! lol I can’t believe your 21! Your Mom and I were in Australia when I turned 21 and all I can say is YIKES! I know you’re more mature than we ever were, crossing my fingers right now in hopes you are! xo

Watching you play your guitar and sing is a highlight in times we have spent together. (playing hide the stinky socks was fun too) (Wiping your butt @ 3 I could have done without, I was totally set up on that!  lol) You are amazing! When I am missing you I drop in to your Facebook page not to creep or judge but to get my James fix. I always love it when you link to music.

I love finding new music. I should clarify, new music for ME. I have been know to be stuck when it comes to tunes, and this is a perfect example, I will admit I thought Train was New! I am not up to date with the music world and couldn’t sing a song in tune if my life depended on it, but I’m willing to at least give it a try. I went off on Facebook saying I recorded myself singing “Hey Soul Sister” but I regret to tell you, it’s wayyy too embarrassing to post. I know what I like, I just don’t know who they are and the name of the song. I also have a tendency to play my new favourite songs to death, drives everyone around me crazy. I think maybe subconsciously I hope I will be able to remember the song if I hear it a bazillion times, no such luck. Thanks James for the music links. I would love to hear your version of this song, I know it would be incredible.

Happy Birthday James, enjoy every moment of the day it’s all about celebrating YOU and that is something to celebrate!!! We love you! A-T and family! xo

Crank it up ~

Happy Birthday James!

Sexless Marriages

Sexless Marriages are common according to Oprah and the Internet. Perhaps if we shut off the television and computer and put some time aside for our partner (if we have one) as we do for everyone else in our lives, we might have sex more often. I’m just sayin…

Bonnie’s post yesterday The Best Music to Have Sex To made me think back to the days of having sex, and what made it most memorable. Music was definitely on my list, but most importantly a trusting partner! Maybe it’s as simple as turning on music to get turned on? Music does stirs our souls and intensify emotions, could it really be that simple? Nothing is that simple, but it wouldn’t hurt to give it a whirl. According to some couples who appeared on the Oprah Show, it’s much more complicated than that. I never watched the show when it originally aired but read what they had to say on her website after the fact. I never knew there were so many deep seeded reasons married couples didn’t have sex as often anymore, or at all for that matter. Thankfully there is a venue to open up the conversation for those who need a little help in understanding why they don’t feel they can have an intimate relationship with their spouse or partner.

To quote my friend Lawrence ~
“You are not alone, is the message we need to share with one another, desperately. Money, material things, broken romance, there is nothing  you cannot get over with the help of a friend, family member, and the admission as a society, that it’s not only okay to share your dreams and fears with the world around you, but it’s the key to a healthier, happier, life more fulfilled.”

Anyone whose been married knows it’s a huge adjustment to go from dating and having the excitement of not knowing when you will see the person of your desire, to marriage and seeing them every single night. You give up some of the excitement for security. Lust for Love. It’s worth it but it’s also hard work. You have to really want to work at a relationship to have it last. That goes for a great sex life too in my opinion. It takes two and if both parties are not on the same page, that is the start of a soon to be sexless marriage.

I can understand how men get pushed to the bottom of the list after having kids, it’s almost expected. You’re living together trying to balance everyone’s needs, there is no special dates or time away from one another to make it more exciting. But that is a conscious choice! Sex sometimes becomes predictable and so the cycle begins.

Kids take up a huge part of daily life and as a Mom myself, I can relate to finally having a moment to myself and not always wanting to share it with anyone else regardless of what’s promised at the end. Having said that I do also believe the more intimacy you have with your partner, talking, touching, builds trust and with trust there comes an overwhelming desire to please. The more you take time for this, the more you want it. If you let it, the opposite happens, out of sight, out of mind. We all get lazy at some point in our relationships. One week turns into two, which turns into three, but then when we do get it together and have a great night of sex we wonder why we left it so long! Again it’s a choice!

I am not saying that everyone experiences this, but I will be honest, I don’t know many people who are completely satisfied with their sex lives. Everyone has their reasons for having less sex from feeling insecure, out of shape, not attractive, tired, kids, work, obligations, the list goes on! But when it comes to loving the person your with, all those small details should be put aside. Nobody is perfect. Just embrace who you’re with, what you’ve got, and go for it! Turn off the boob tube, put on some Enigma and in the heat of the moment, nothing else will really matter but the passionate person lying next to you ! 🙂

The part that I don’t understand is that some women want a man to want them, only them, they enter into a monogamous marriage wanting to be the last woman on earth their spouse/partner  is to have sex with and then THEY don’t have sex with him?

Here are a few links for more information; OprahTodayDr PhilThe Globe and Mail. And if all else fails Enigma!

Postcard Stories from Tara Cronica “To Dance”

My good friend Lawrence Thomas introduced me to ‘Postcard Stories’. He learned of them through his writers group. You are given three words and a 150 word limit to come up with a short postcard story. I mentioned to Lawrence that I would love to do one if he would give me three words. Lawrence gave me ‘Inspiration, Lyrical and Spiritual. Here is what I came up with. Jake and Bonnie if you would like to join in please feel free, it was a lot of fun! Thanks Lawrence!

Dedicated to my daughter Jordan.

To Dance  (150 word limit, spiritual, lyrical, inspiration)

The curtain opens, the auditorium is full, all eyes are upon me. I take a moment, breath slowly internalizing my strength. The music starts and I begin. I feel the vibrational energy move my body naturally as the rhythm and I become one. Each extension of hand and toe are strong, graceful, delicate. Lyrical dance is my personal expression, romantic, whimsical, almost spiritual. I am in a trance, unaware of my surrounding, enveloped by the moment. As the musical notes rise, I Grand Jeté across the stage to my finale. The music ends, a brief pause, the auditorium is filled with appreciation. I reconnect with the eyes that followed my every movement, as if it were their own. I see a room filled with inspiration. I bow my head and gently curtsy. Applause awakens me, I sit front row watching my daughter centre stage, reaping the rewards of her disciplines.

Good luck at Dance Jordan I will be sitting front row watching proudly while you dance like no ones watching ~

In the Mind of a Hopeless Romantic~

TJ It’s like a record playing over and over in your head, the song you just can’t stop humming. It’s become so familiar that it is a part of who you are. It’s not just in my head, I feel it every time I think of him. I’ve been wrapped in his spell for as long as I can remember. I can’t find my way out, every time I try and I have tried, it just starts all over. My hopeless romantic mind will not let it go. When he does finally come for me, and he will, the world will spin out of control trying to balance the electrical force we will create when we do finally surrender to one another.

There I was, standing in a room filled with music, people and chatter. I was engaged in a conversation with a complete stranger who was standing so close I could feel his breath on my ear as each word danced from his mouth. He was warm and passionate. He was someone I could spent hours talking to, the conversation was effortless, flowing easily.

The Kiss in the CrowdAs we were exchanging words, I glanced across the room and there he was…just standing there looking at me. Instantly my entire body was wrapped in his energy. You could hear the sparks fly across the room between us. The chemistry was magical. My entire being was encircled by his. If I closed my eyes I think I might have been able to hear his heart beat. His stare was intoxicating, looking deep inside me. There was no need for words, the look on his face expressed his intentions crystal clear. The connection was unbreakable, everything disappeared, the people, the conversation, even the music. He walked directly towards me with such certainty. My heart couldn’t beat any faster than it was at that very moment.

romantic kissWhen he was standing close enough to touch I felt the strength in his arms scan my body moving upwards. As his strong hands cupped my jaw line, I closed my eyes slowly to focus on my next breath of air. When my eyes opened we connected once more just as he leaned in and opened his mouth slightly. I was completely enveloped in the moment.  I was taken to a place I thought only existed  in my mind. He was breathing from his chest, the closer his lips got to touching mine the faster our pulses raced until we were completely in sync. Our lips touched, mixing our chemistry creating a concoction neither of us had tasted before. We stood silent in the moment. I would remember this feeling for eternity.

Our lips slowly parted, both overwhelmed by passion, there was no going back. I opened my eyes to the voice of my complete stranger standing next to me “Tracy, dance with me”, grabbing my hand he lead me through the crowd to the dance floor. I smiled, still in the moment inside my hopelessly romantic mind. I paused and looked around the room one last time, then danced like no one was watching~

I was listening to Michael Bublé while running and loved the words to his song “Haven’t Met You  Yet”, then I saw the video and had to add it to my post, seems I am not the only one !

I Gotta Feeling!

Bonnie Johnson's PostThis song by the Black Eyed Peas has been a big hit this past summer.  It’s special to me too because Tracy and I heard it for the first time during her stay with me here in Vernon in July.  The two of us would “seat dance” to it if we heard it on the radio while we were driving somewhere.  This would always embarrass her son but her daughter joined in enthusiastically.  Ahhh…passing along our goofy moves to the innocent while distressing an eleven year old boy was too much fun!

I have had the song stuck in my head all summer and that’s not a bad thing.  It feels like a great mantra really.

“I gotta feeling… that today’s going to be a good day,… that today’s going to be a good good day… Woo Hoo.”

What a great thing to sing to yourself!  It’s impossible to not want to move along to the music.  It’s too full of fun and freedom.  I was excited when I found this video of the Black Eyed Peas performing a special live version of I Gotta Feeling for Oprah while a flash mob of synchronized dancers groove on Michigan Avenue downtown Chicago, IL USA. The performance was at Oprah’s 24th Season Kickoff Party on September 8, 2009.

I’m sure that if everyone sang this song to themselves at the beginning of everyday (and perhaps a few times during) they could only have a good day.  Give it a try.  Sing the words and make it your new mantra.  And if anyone is interested in learning how to dance like the crowd in the clip, follow this link for a lesson.

Music: The Sound Of Your Soul

Bonnie Johnson's PostI’d like to continue our “music” theme a little more.  Music is, and always has been, such a big part of my life.  After a statement like that you would think that I’d list all of the musical instruments I can play.  Speak to you about the hours of dedicated practice I put in to the piano, flute, violin, guitar, name an instrument…but, in fact, I don’t play any.  And I’ve never been able to sing well enough that others would want to pay to listen either.  (Or listen…period)

Although I don’t have a particular talent to make beautiful music, I have still been drawn to it and have loved it my whole life.  I love all kinds and genres of music.

I have a theory about that.

I believe that music is the sound of your Soul.  It is created by vibration.  Vibration is energy.  Energy is Source.  People who create beautiful music speak of being “inspired”.  I like to think of the word “inspired” as also meaning “in spirit”.

I remember listening to the sound track from “The Last of the Mohicans” and being moved to tears.  Not by any words, because there weren’t any, but just from the ebb and flow of the music itself.

I love it when the rhythm and beat of a song kicks your energy to the next level.  I’m not a jogger but on the rare occasions I have gone for a run, I swear the only thing that kept me going was by having some high energy songs pumping through my I-pod.

My son, James, plays the guitar and writes his own music and lyrics now.  He recently told me that when the stress of university starts to get to him he takes out his guitar and gets lost in his music.  It soothes his soul.  He re-aligns.

I’m reminded of the sound of OM or AUM which is the most often chanted sound in mantras.  It is believed that the whole universe, in its fundamental form, is made up of vibrating, pulsating energy.  OM is considered as the humming sound of this cosmic energy.  How cool is that!

Our Tara’s mantra is “Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha” and is featured on our Goddess Tara Bio page.

Something to think about!

Things That Caught My Eye Recently!

Bonnie's PostI just wanted to share a few things that I found on the world wide web recently that made me giggle?

Giant eye beach balls?

Festival-goers play with beachball-size inflatable eyeballs during day three of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival held at the Empire Polo Club on April 19 in Indio, Calif. I found this on MSNBC.com's The Week in Pictures

Kutcher takes CNN

This is my absolute favourite so far. Someone is great with photoshop. I found this on gawker.com. It was done for a story about Ashton Kutcher trying to beat CNN for the first to reach 1 million followers on Twitter.

I love you man!

I just think these two are funny. It's from the movie "I Love You, Man" with Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. Haven't seen it yet but I want to.

This kid is great! I’ll bet he becomes an amazing goalie one day. I especially love the beard!

Polor bear eats chocolate bunny

Found this on Macleans.ca. I love it becaue whoever drew the face on the bunny got the expression just right.

Music

Acoustic guitar

Music, what would we do without it?  Tara Cronica has a category Tara’s Talent.  I have been making it a part of my social calendar to go and check out some local bands.

I love spending time listening to music.  I can’t imagine my life without it.  I envy the creative souls who make it.  In my twenties I hung out with  friends who loved to get together and jam.  I could sit and listen to them for hours.

Music inspires me to write, meditate and gives me the energy to run.  Music sets the mood for everything, imagine a movie without a score.  One of my favorite movies about music is ‘August Rush’.

My favorite instrument is acoustic guitar.  I think music can enriches your life in so many ways.  Having had two children, I noticed how both responded to music at such an early age.  It makes one wonder how the vibrational energy of the music can have such an emotional impact on us.

Going to concerts is an experience for sure, but I like the more intimate show myself.  Late last year Jacquie and I went to see Jessica Beach when she was promoting ‘For Your Protection‘.  Loved her!   And yes, bought the CD.

More recently I saw a band called DNA 6 who are funk and rap mixed, they too were worth the night out for.  Swank is next on my list of bands to see!

Which came first the emotion or the song?

My Morning Pages

Typewritter
When you discover or rediscover what your passion is and immerse yourself in it sometimes it can take awhile to get your creative juices flowing freely again.

Tara Cronica is my passion.  Writing content to fill the pages is a process that I have been working on for months.  I wanted to share with you what is helping me get back in touch with my creative side.

My two partners Jacquie and Bonnie both suggested I read the book ‘the Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron, where she suggests you write what are called your morning pages. You are meant to sit uninterrupted and write three handwritten pages of what ever comes to mind.  Bonnie does this religiously and loves it.  I do it on occasion as well but I have another version of what also works for me.  I run while listening to music.  Music inspires me to write and running is my form of meditation.  I open my mind to any thought that might want to enter.  As soon as I set out on my run my attitude immediately changes and I feel empowered.  Running to me is my morning pages.  I get exercise, fresh air, meditate and some really great ideas to write about.  I haven’t solved the worlds problems yet but I am working on it.  Try it, I highly recommend it!
