Music is the Cure…

First I must thank Bonnie and Jacquie for the beautiful surprise of having Lawrence join us yesterday by adding his voice which I have loved since the day we connected. My heart is overflowing!  I have so many wonderful people in my life to be grateful for…Thank you all for making my day special! xo

I love listening to music. For me Music is the cure to everything. Music adds an element to life that I think without it, would be flat. When you mix your favourite tunes with pretty much anything I think it opens something up in your mind letting in a creative energy that can’t help but inspire. Words inspire, but when accompanied by music…they embody the feelings. It clears my mind, exhilarates my body and makes my spirit soar!

My favourite is listening to music live. There is something about watching the passion in another human being as they create or play music. It’s a gift that eluded me unfortunately. 🙁 I couldn’t sing to save my life, and although I’ve tried strumming the acoustic guitar, it is much more difficult than it looks. Drums…not sure how anyone can coordinate doing 4 things at different speeds all at the same time, that boggles my mind. I am okay with being the one who sits and enjoys listening to others play their passion. It’s when you can turn off your touch, smell, sight, taste and just focus on listening…

I am drawn to musician, and not just the handsome variety, the female energy also. I am envious of their ability to create something so beautiful.

Music can change or enhance any mood your in. Enya makes me fantasize about ball room dancing and Madonna makes me not give a fat babies ass (to quote PitBull) what anyone thinks of me. Rob Thomas’s ‘smooth’ vocals melt me. Enigma as Bonnie has posted about in the past is the Best Music to Have Sex To (Bonnies words and post not mine…ya I know!) giggle!

I love finding new music, it’s why I watch the Grammy’s, they were awesome by the way if you missed them on Sunday night! I was just turned onto Walk Off The Earth…simply awesome! Such a creative group of musicians who went viral overnight! Magic!

Music is the cure to all lifes trials and tribulations…in my opinion.

Musicians are Sexy…  (my post from All Things Sexy and Silver…it just seemed to fit)

There is something overwhelmingly sexy about a man who can create music. “Music is how feeling sound”...(one of my favourite quotes) Woman are drawn to men who can express feeling, whether it be through the simplicity of words strung together, or a melody that pulls at our heart strings. When a man learns to read the music of a womens heart he captures her.

“Music is the art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony and colour.” A man who can create feelings with his unique interpretation of those elements has a powerful presence. Is it the man that seduces us or do we open ourselves to the poetic features of music and allow the man to enter because he holds a key? Music is a form of expression more unique than language, it adds the element of vibrationally energy that although we can’t all create, we have an insatiable desire to hear and feel it.

Music allows us to open our minds, to a level of consciousness far beyond what we are used to. When we open our mind, body and spirit to it, our soul dances. When we open our mind body and spirit to the one who creates the music we dance together.

The mind of a musician is on a frequency that’s invisible to some. When a single note is released it affects us like a scent traveling through the atmosphere until it become a mere whisper. It touches each of us in a unique way, taking us to places we’ve been before and those we have yet to explore. Allow yourself the pleasure of getting lost in the music, or the musician who is creating it. Make a Memory ~

Musicians captivate crowds with their art form that allows the listener to join with them on their intimate journey of interpretation. They surrender to the music as they perform. We connect with then as we allow our feeling to surface as we listen. The vibrational rhythm is not only heard, it’s felt by every cell of our body transcending us to a place that feels like no other.

It’s one thing in life I wouldn’t want to live without.

Music is the prelude to everything…

Meditation T-Style

We all have five minutes to spare and if we don’t we seriously need to reevaluate our lives. Listen to the music I’ve added below and try my meditation. I run to meditate and this is what I visualize when I get into my zone.

I imagine myself moving freely to the music rain dance style with absolutely no inhibitions! None…zilch…zero…nada! Visualize Jim Morrison dancing around the desert on ecstasy. That’s me but without the psychedelic drug, just high on life! Now there’s a visual!

As my body moves to the music I visualize everything that weighs me down on the surface of my skin. It starts to rain and my cleanse begins. My body ((((vibrates)))) to the energy of the music and like beads of water my murky clouded thoughts start to slowly roll off the surface of my skin. Acknowledging these thoughts will allow you to release them. Your body will start to feel lighter while you continue to move freely.

Your thoughts, now clear beads, run into each other growing as they flow from your freshly cleansed skin. You will start to feel empowered ready to face the world.

Your skin is now silky and smooth covered in a protective oil.

I end my run with the feeling of having my arms open to what ever comes my way. I believe meditation is why I am able to move forward so easily in life. I let go of anything negative that might hold me back. I meditate and visualize this release on a regular basis. It gets easier each time. Any music works as long as you can get lost in it. I like music that has an escalating beat and Madonna’s ‘Let It Will Be’ is one of many that works for me. Sometimes you just have to Let It Will Be.

I just got back from a run and I feel INCREDIBLE! There’s NOTHING better than having every drop of blood in your body vibrating to music created by great musicians!

(((((smile)))))

Music is what feelings sound like ~ unknown quote (thanks H.M)

I am cleansed, clear and high on life! I have no intention of coming down any time soon! If you’d like to join me I’m right up here, the more the merrier!

Thoughts become things…pick the good ones!

Talk-the-Talk or Walk-the-Walk?

Madonna is known for reinventing herself in her career more than once, she changes with the times and still at 50 she is rocking, authentic and true to herself. We can all learn a little from this strong woman who clearly knows who she is and works it! She is open and vocal about some pretty controversial topics. That comes at a price of course.
I had another post ready for today, but seems the timing is off for it so it will have to wait for another time. Enjoy the video everyone!

“The world is full of people who talk the talk but how many of us walk the walk!”

That resonates to the centre of my being at the moment!

“Like It Or Not”

You can call me a sinner
You can call me a saint
Celebrate me for who I am
Dislike me for what I ain’t

Put me up on a pedestal
Or drag me down in the dirt
Sticks and stones will break my bones
But your names will never hurt

I’ll be the garden
You be the snake
All of my fruit is yours to take
Better the devil that you know
Your love for me will grow
Because

[Chorus]
This is who I am
You can
Like it or not
You can
Love me or leave me
Cus I’m never gonna stop
No no

Cleopatra had her way
Matahari too
Whether they were good or bad
Is strictly up to you

Life is a paradox and it doesn’t make much sense
Can’t have the Femme without the Fatale
Please don’t take offense

Don’t let the fruit rot under the vine
Fill up your cup and let’s drink the wine
Better the devil that you know
Your love for me will grow
Because

[Chorus X2]

no no you know [repeat]

I’ll be garden
You’ll be the snake
All of my fruit are yours to take
Better the devil that you know
Your love for me will grow
Because

[Chorus]

no no you know [repeat]

Women Who Have Shaped Me

Tomorrow is Mothers Day.  I’ve been thinking about my mom and how she has helped shape my life.  A mother is a powerful influence on her daughter in many far reaching ways.  Some positive, some maybe not so positive, but a mothers influence is very powerful never the less.

I’ve also realized there have been many other women who have had an influence on my life.  For a bit of fun I thought I create a list.

In order of when I was influenced by them, the following women made my list. Who is on yours?

My mom ~ She has taught me so much that I don’t even know where to start…so I won’t.  (I just saw a mothers day card that cracked me up.  It had a little girl sitting on a pottie on the cover, the inside said something like “thank you for teaching me so much, especially how to use the pottie – that one comes in handy every single day.”  Ha! )

My grandmother ~ She taught me how to find fun in the little things.  My grandmother was also a bit subservient to my grandfather and watching that made me determined not to follow in those footsteps when I grew up.

Lucille Ball ~ Watching the Lucille Ball show as a little kid I remember thinking how funny she was in her ridiculousness and how sweet it was that her husband always forgave her in the end.  I wanted to find a husband who could forgive me my silly mistakes too.

Cinderella ~ I cheered for her resilience.  She kept a good attitude even when people were being really mean to her.  I admired that all of her perseverance and hard work paid off in the end…which was really the beginning but I didn’t know that then.

Barbie ~ I imagined I would look like her one day, and that my future husband would look like Ken too.  I could hardly wait for the camper we would buy one day! (OMG, I just realized we have one that looks almost identical to the photo!)

Mary Richards (Mary Tyler Moore) ~ She was a pretty single woman living alone in the city and working at a really cool job! Wow! Who knew!

Nancy Drew ~ This was one smart girl.  She could solve any mystery thrown her way.  I loved her!

Laura Ingalls ~ She was ferociously loyal to her family and adventurous.  I loved her spirit!

Kathryn Hepburn ~ She wore pants when other women didn’t. She was athletic.  I always admired her unconventional, straightforward attitude.

Tracy Westerholm ~ Tracy is someone I have admired and loved for over 30 years.  She has shaped my life in innumerable ways. It’s what happens when you are close to another woman since your teens.  We have shared all of the important milestones in each others lives and there is no doubt she will always be a big part of my life. Plus she makes me laugh… a lot!

Mother Teresa ~ For over 45 years she ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying, while guiding the Missionaries of Charity’s expansion, first throughout India and then in other countries.  I watched her in awe my whole life.  If I could be just a fraction of what she was…

Princess Di ~ To me, she was the real-life Cinderella.  An ordinary girl becomes a princess…it could have been me!  My wedding dress was similar and so was my bouquet. Yikes! In the end I admired her for breaking tradition to find her happiness (and her charity work of course).

Madonna ~ She taught me you don’t need to be able to sing that well to become a famous singer.  Ha ha! She did get much better over the years (and after singing lessons). She was the first woman I ever saw re-invent herself again, and again, and again…
She was/is pure determination.

Oprah ~ I watched Oprah way back in the very early days.  There were some years when I tired of her shows, but then she started to change.  When I began watching again, I discovered that I was learning something new almost every time I tuned in.  Cool! There are not too many women who haven’t been able to relate to her at one time or another.

All my girlfriends ~ I know that every girlfriend that I have had over the years has taught me something.  I love how we support and learn from each other.  Thank you all past, present and future girlfriends!

Svaha Spirit Series ~ Sing by Annie Lennox ~

Our Svaha Spirit Series is meant to be Inspirational. I love music and was inspired while watching Annie Lennox’s video ‘Sing’. To quote directly from her website SING, “When people get together to sing, they become encouraged and inspired.” Isn’t that true! Annie Lennox teamed up with 23 of the world’s most acclaimed female superstar voices to produce ‘Sing’ to raise money and awareness for the HIV/Aids organization,Treatment Action Campaign (TAC). Here’s Annie Lennox, and in the chorus, Madonna, Celine Dion, Pink, Dido to name a few of the 23 who use their voices to inspire! If you take a look around her website you will see the progress that has been made since she started SING, now that’s inspiring!

Inspiration is what helps make positive change.

I Need to Change…Madonna.

I Need to Change…We All Need to Change…

Madonna is famous for change…  She continues to grow as a artist and person which is what I admire about her most.  Never Fear Change!

Here is a video which explores the ‘Change’ Madonna has gone through over the years.  She is such a strong, confident woman who is very comfortable with who she is and who she is becoming…

Your  ‘doings’ may change but your ‘intention’ should remain solid and pure…Svaha!
