Rather than a video, I thought I would simply share this amazing and inspiring photo of Athlete (and so much more) Aimee Mullins. Some pictures are worth a thousand words and this one also inspires me to get up and get moving. If she can do it, then I really have no excuse not to.
“Born without fibulae in both legs, Aimee’s medical prognosis was discouraging; she was told she would never walk, and would likely spend the rest of her life using a wheelchair. In an attempt for an outside chance at independent mobility, doctors amputated both her legs below the knee on her first birthday. The decision paid off. By age two, she had learned to walk on prosthetic legs, and spent her childhood doing the usual athletic activities of her peers: swimming, biking, softball, soccer, and skiing, always alongside “able-body” kids.”
Louise L. Hay has been one of my favourites for many years. Like countless others, her daily affirmations have helped to guide me to a better me!
Louise had a rough start in life and faced some really serious challenges but found positive thinking helped to heal. She recently turned 84 but hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. She is a remarkable and inspiring woman.
RECENTLY DUBBED “the closest thing to a living saint” by the Australian media, Louise L. Hay is also known as one of the founders of the self-help movement. Her first book, Heal Your Body, was published in 1976, long before it was fashionable to discuss the connection between the mind and body. Revised and expanded in 1988, this best-selling book introduced Louise’s concepts to people in 33 different countries and has been translated into 25 languages throughout the world and to date has sold more than 35 million copies around the world. In 1984, her new book, You Can Heal Your Life, was published. In it, Louise explains how our beliefs and ideas about ourselves are often the cause of our emotional problems and physical maladies and how, by using certain tools, we can change our thinking and our lives for the better.
Through Louise’s healing techniques and positive philosophy, millions have learned how to create more of what they want in their lives, including more wellness in their bodies, minds, and spirits.
There are few people we meet in our lifetime whose presence and effervescent spirit fills us instantly with an abundance of energy and love. Louise Hay is one of those rare people who radiates peace and seems to make time stand still.
It all started more than 30 years ago when Louise saw how people let illness and hurtful circumstances control their lives. She vowed to help them see that the root of their pain stemmed from their own negative thoughts. So, she sat down and wrote a little blue pamphlet where she described how our mental patterns and beliefs can actually contribute to illness in our body. She even listed various medical conditions, explained what thoughts correlated with them, and showed us that the way to heal our lives was just a positive thought away.
Louise had a simple message that she wanted to share: “The body, like everything else in life, is a mirror of our inner thoughts and beliefs. Every cell within your body responds to every single thought you think and every word you speak.”
