What Woos You?

Physical attraction and eye contact with someone new can be pretty powerful but you eventually have to speak. Communicating without the physical aspect can also stimulate the senses but you eventually have to meet. What seals the deal for you when it comes to accepting a date with the opposite sex? What woos you? Intrigue is first and foremost for me. Words create intrigue capturing the essence of who they are. Can you be wooed by words alone? If they are a true reflection of the person who speaks them I think it’s an extraordinary start.

What draws you even closer to the opposite sex after they’ve intrigued you? Physical appearance is what can turn our heads or grab our attention initially, as can words, but what keeps our attention after that? Capturing someones interest is the easy part…keeping it is the challenge. We are all unique in what attracts us to the energy of the opposite sex just as we are also roused by different words and actions.

Great conversation stimulates the mind but can too much deep intellectual colloquy start to make you crazy if it’s the only word play you engage in. I don’t want my mind to be so exhausted that my funny bone has fallen asleep. A man that can make me laugh-out-loud woos me just as easily as one who makes me question my beliefs.

Being wooed by the opposite sex can start with a feeling thats origin is unknown. It’s just there, waiting to be touched. It isn’t just physical or mental stimulation. It can start with flirty banter and lead to conversations that make your mind sail with even the slightest breeze.

The root of all attraction is based on a feeling followed by desire, it IS that simple. The only way to expose the chemistry that may lay beneath the surface of words or physical attraction is by standing in front of the object-of-your-desire. It’s either there filling the air that swirls between you or it’s not.

Being authentic is the best way to woo the opposite sex. Not everyone will respond to who you are but when someone does sometimes words are not necessary or enough.

Deal Breakers – What Are Yours?

If you met someone new and were attracted to them physically, what would be a deal breaker for you? I had this conversation with a man who I find attractive…we’ll leave it at that! He was looking at my ears for an extended length of time, which I didn’t notice at first, but then he let the cat out of the bag, big ears are a deal breaker for him! “Seriously” was all I could say, while laughing nervously wondering…”Do I have big ears?” I don’t, but you never know what someone else’s perception is of you.

I’ve learnt as a woman when a man says you have…lets say ‘small ears‘, just go with it. You don’t argue or debate it, you have small ears from that point on for the rest of your life! He also told me a moustache was another one of his deal breakers, phew is all I could think, thank god for tweezers and a 10X10 mirror! I am starting to think it’s very important in your 40’s to date men who wear glasses! You have no idea how tempting it was for me to wear a set of dumbo ears and a black stache when we met for coffee! The stache I can take care of but what if I did have big ears? Would he really not want to hang out with me?

So, having had this conversation, it made me wonder what my deal breakers might be? I say that like I’ve never even had a list! lol I called Bonnie and explained our conversation and said I couldn’t think of mine! She actually laughed out loud and said in a stupefied voice “YOU HAVE TONS!” I replied in denial “I do? I did? I’ve changed!” Hmmmm I guess I have a few but I really have changed over the years and I think some of my deal breakers are now negotiable. I am not looking for a man to have perfect babies with or someone who I will spend the next 50 years with…hang on that’s actually possible, the 50 years part! I am looking for someone who can be themselves around me, who is confident and has no expectations. I’ve learned to accept people for who they are, flaws and all! But I guess we all have things we just can’t get past. If I was really in love and I mean head over heels in love with someone, would I even see what might have been a deal breaker in my past?

I try not to look at what I don’t find attractive as much as what I do find attractive. Having said that, I also know that when someone does something that grates on you, it can be hard to ignore! 🙂 But that works both ways and is where compromise works its way to the surface of any union. Physical appearance is something we can’t always change, so it wouldn’t bother me as much as behaviour in someone. Arrogance for example, is a turn off for me. Sense of humour is a huge turn on. Vulgarity; turn off, chivalry; turn on! Intellect I would take over dumb and handsome every time! Do you see what I mean, it doesn’t have to be a physical deal breaker. I like to focus on the positive, like a man’s hands, hard working hands that can take care of me…sexy. There is so much to love about men, I won’t list all the parts of the body I find attractive, I’ve written that post on my ‘other’ blog…Male Sexy Bits. The bottom line, every man is unique and has attractive qualities. That’s what you should focus on!

I think for me if a man is healthy, and lives by example I could overlook a few things, if he was willing in return. Cause we all know unless you’re willing to turn that magnifying mirror around, don’t go there! If a man takes care of himself and loves himself, and there is natural chemistry between the two of us, I don’t see how I couldn’t fall for him. I look at it like this…If I am going to put my time and love into another human being I want to know that they care about themselves as much as I do.

So I guess my only real deal breaker would be someone who doesn’t take care of themselves in mind, body and spirit. We all eventually pass on, so for me the time we spend here should be cherished, in the moment living life to the fullest, so our time here on earth is well spent! I keep fit for my heart and soul, I eat to live and laugh for mental health! Here’s to the next 50 years, I can hardly wait to meet you! 🙂 (or maybe we already have!)

Svaha Spirit Series: BBC Talking Animals ~

There is nothing greater than laughter and more appealing than our furry or feathered friends. I grew up watching National Geographic and could watch animal shows for hours! Here is nature, animals and laughter combined! I came across BBC Talking Animals one night and couldn’t stop watching, there are many! They made me giggle into the wee hours of the night, so I hope you do too!

Do You Have A Filter?

I have a girlfriend who doesn’t have a filter and constantly gets chastised for it. She just says it how it is, and I guess some people just aren’t comfortable with her honesty. Do you ever wonder what a day with your friends would be like, if we all had to remove our filters? I know for certain I would be rolling with laughter all day long. The Movie The Invention of Lying is basically what it would be like if we did remove our filters. Ricky Gervais and Jennifer Garner are hilarious together! I laugh at just the thought of my thoughts becoming words at times!

I love when people have the courage to speak their minds. Not many people do anymore. I think my girlfriend is hysterically funny, she makes me laugh in a away that is always unexpected. The kind of laugh that makes you spit your drink out of your mouth or snot shoots out your nose. I have on several occasions almost pee’d my pants while in her company because of the stuff she says out loud! She also doesn’t have an inside voice so when I say out loud I mean out LOUD! That’s what cracks me up so much about what she says, its like no one ever told her as a child that sound travels! I think she actually has a filter she’s just misplaced it, or chooses not to use it around cerain people. I find humour in that.

It’s hard to deprogram leaned behaviour, which is sometimes a good thing but not always! Don’t you wish you could just be brutally honest with some people who catch you off guard! I’d like to just let it fly sometimes just to see what people would do. Think before you speak is becoming wayyyy to common and ordinary blah blah blah. We need those who don’t think before they blurt out the obvious. They are like adding colour to a black and white photographed society. That’s why their type is calledColourful. Don’t get me wrong, we need to know when to keep our pie holes mouths shut too. If we could express ourselves without causing too many waves or hurting feelings it would be a perfect balance. Nobody wants to cause a Tsunami everywhere they go but a nice healthy 20 footer every now and then to keep everyone on their toes would be fun!

Here is an example of perhaps going too far!

If we did have a day that required us to tell the truth would you stay home or bust out the door and enjoy your day? Would telling the truth inspire change? I dare ya to remove your filter and see what happens!

“Stepping Into The Ring” with the ‘C’ Word!

I always find it interesting that when we start a new month with a new ‘header‘ and ‘theme‘ that somehow our theme is identified in our topics. Jacquie created this months artwork and chose Finding Lyrical Beauty in Individuality’.

I was surfing the internet looking for interesting stuff to write about when I came across this video, it’s powerful! I lost my Grandfather and Aunty Margie to cancer. It seems that everyone is connected to someone who is either going through cancer treatment, has lost someone to cancer or has it in their own family.

Here are two examples of women who not only inspire but also have their own unique individuality. I shared a website with you a while back called Crazy Sexy Life and an uplifting documentary Crazy Sexy Cancer which was created by Kris Carr an actress/photographer. It’s all about Kris looking for a cure and finding life. Kris Carr was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. Weeks later she began filming her story. Taking a seemingly tragic situation and turning it into a creative expression, Kris shared her inspirational story of survival with courage, strength, and lots of humour.

Nicole Johnson is a bestselling author, performer, and motivational speaker. Nicole’s ‘Fresh Brewed Life‘ message gives ‘Hope for the Daily Grind’. She addresses issues ranging from the comedic struggle of motherhood to the tragedy of dealing with breast cancer. Nicole’s sketch “Stepping Into the Ring” is for those fighting for hope over despair in the battle against cancer.

Inspiring Women Expressing Their Individuality ~

Whether it’s you fighting the battle against cancer or someone you know is, the human spirit is NEVER alone. There is always support and inspiration around us. Nothing can take your spirit unless you allow it to.

‘Build a Guy’

You’ve heard about ‘Build a Bear’ for kids, but how about ‘Build a Guy’ for us single ladies out there! Come on think about it, we all get together and go to a ‘happy place’ where we hand pick our very own guy stuffy. We add a voice to him, or not, we stuff him full of fluff, hold that little red satin heart next to ours while we wish him to be everything we desire and then sew him shut. We can sign up to the ‘Build a Guy’ ID program too and put our name inside him so that if he dare try to run, gets lost or stolen he’s recovered and mailed directly back, and lives the rest of his stuffed life as a voodoo bear naughty bear. We add just the right amount of intelligence, and Voila he’s ready to dress. Outfits are optional, I’d pick a Policmen’s uniform (wink, wink) but hey it’s your choice, whatever you fancy at that moment.

On those lonely nights when we feel like company, but not really, he snuggles right in and melts the worries of the world, listening intently to our every word. And if at any given moment it ever goes sour and we get upset with him he can be easily switched over to a Voodoo bear. (kind of creepy I know, but check out the link anyway just in case)

Okay seriously though, if you could build a guy just the way you like, what would you want to make him just right for you?

My first body part would be the Eyes. When you connect with your eyes there is a magic that happens.

My second body part would be the Heart, it needs to be free and bottomless. If you can capture someones heart you have everything you need to be happy.

Strength and Integrity are next, it’s what makes a man real. To honour his word.

Throw in a huge Funny bone, he would need to see the world with humour, and we’re almost done.

Intellect, we all end up looking the same so the conversation needs to be intriguing.

Add Strong hands and a sense of Adventure and we’re set!

So what do you think Ladies, which qualities do you love in a man/your man? There are so many to love I know it’s hard to pick but which could you not live without?

Men…Like’em, love’em or lose’em!

Taylor Kitsch has the sparkle

It’s no secret that I LOVE men!  But I also like ’em.  Men are pretty basic and raw.  They are not nearly as complex as their female counterpart.  I mean that in a complimentary way!  With women being so independent and self sufficient we hardly even need them anymore.  I think men are feeling this vibe from women and are not too sure what their role is with women anymore.  Men aren’t really required anymore or are they?

I, for one, wouldn’t want to live without men in my life because I find them incredibly interesting in how there brain works so differently than ours.  I have always had male friends in my circle and love the dynamic they bring to the friendship.  I love man-friends!  I think I must have been a man in a past life because I’m comfortable around them and have always related to men.  They just seem to make sense to me.

Women on occasion make things more complicated than need be.   I have learned over the years that men are really who they are when you have absolutely no expectations of them.  It  is then that you see them for who they truly are.

hunters

They are wired to hunt, protect and continue the human race.  Think about that for a moment; the raw male energy hunting, protecting you and then making mad passionate love to you!!  How can that not be required anymore?  If you understand that and don’t try to change or manipulate them to benefit you and only you, then your time spent with them will be real.Protect us

I love men who have the confidence to be themselves without trying to impress.  It doesn’t really matter what a man does as long as he does it passionately.  Men love women and want to please them but I think we sometimes make that more difficult than necessary.  I think there is a great deal we can learn from the male energy and I for one am loving the journey.  I love ’em for their  honesty and hard work, I like ’em for their sense of humour and entertainment value and I’d lose ’em if they just gave me everything I wanted without the challenge.

Eye contact with the right man is the ultimate turn on when a connection is made.  I am not talking the stare stare like a bear kind, or the creepy wet your lips and lick your chops kind.  I am talking about the kind when a guy gets that unique sparkle in his eyes when he catches yours.  It doesn’t happen very often but when it does it’s magic.

I would keep men on earth for just that alone.  When we get that connection with a man it can last for months, even years, in our fantasy bank.  It is all about how a man makes you feel inside that really gets women intrigued.  Men aren’t going to change, and we shouldn’t want them to!   We should embrace who they are and either like ’em, love ’em or lose ’em.  Any thoughts on this Girls or Guys?

The Beach

Isn’t the beach a fun place to be!  There are certain areas of the beach that should be completely avoided if you’re looking for solitude or a quiet book read.  But if your like me and totally get off on people watching, smack dab in the center is where you want to plant yourself.  You just have to sit and they will come. Beach

The people, that is.   If you have more than a two foot radius around you it will inevitably be filled with someone similar to those you find yourself  beside on a long flight.  Those people LOVE me!   Forget the warm sun, sand, fresh air and water, bring me the people!  There’s a little something for everyone!

woman playing guitarI spent the day at the beach basking in the sun, watching the kids search for treasures and listening to several vignettes going on around me.  Here are a few I experienced first hand.

There was a blonde woman with a guitar who I could have listened to all day but she only strummed for a short while.  What a great instrument to take to the beach!

There were two French guys who balanced rocks and sticks to make the West Coast version of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.  Loved what they contributed to their beach visit. Rock balancing

There were the loud talkers who annoyed just about the entire beach with their inane, meaningless conversations sitting right behind me.  I don’t remember hearing a pause the entire time they sat there.  For some reason they felt the need to do a play by play of what their kids were doing directly in front of them. “oh look he is picking up the shell, oh look he is touching the sand on the log, oh look he is looking at me looking at him“, confirmation to me of why you don’t marry your brother settle.  (I suppose some people are uncomfortable with silence)

Two pretty young girls showed up ready to meet singles.  I really have to agree with Denis Leary, skinny jeans are for skinny girls!  Why do young girls feel the need to wear jeans that are 7 sizes too small.  Sorry but I just don’t think this is being addressed enough because it’s everywhere I look.  I have always been fit but will admit I also know what it feels like to be a sausage in a casing that is too small on occasion.  It’s not comfortable!  Where does the message that is sent to their brain that this is painful get lost.  There has to be millions of them just floating around!  We all know it doesn’t feel good so it must be because they think it looks good?  Honestly if they wore the right size trousers they would look great!  Hmmmm…Maybe it’s that their shirt is just too short?

I saw a Mother of twins lose it.  By the time she got one ready to leave and lifted up over a log the other one wiggled away from her.   About two minutes into this cat and mouse game her switch flipped.  Her voice did that monster thing where it completely changed!  In slow motion, face slightly distorted, she did the unmentionable!!  She came unglued big time!  “Billleeeee commmmme heeeeeeere”.  You couldn’t help but stop what you were doing and look hoping to catch a glimpse of Ogopogo!  Billy had bolted for the ice-cream shop down the street! Bolting Billy

This poor Mom had absolutely no control right from the start.  I, being a seasoned pro of older children who NEVER did that EVER,  somehow found humor in the Monster voice.  I am embarrassed to say I never even looked up to see if she got hold of the twins because, well, because.  Not the right answer?  My kids never tried to bolt and if they had I would have done what worked with the dog and hid close by until they panicked and realized they, too, needed to know where I was.  Aha!  That’s why they stick so close 10 years later!  So yeah, I just couldn’t relate.  The woman’s husband was somewhere ( I think he bolted to get the car), I am sure he came back, but I am positive he look his sweet time.

The beach is all about the below average hamburger and fries, ice-cream and getting sand in your pink parts. It’s a package deal for me.  I wouldn’t change a thing.  I like all of these people deep down, otherwise I would sit down at the end where no one bothers to walk.
