My Word…

images

Your word is a reflection of who you are. We all need to stop making promises we can’t keep. Where have the days gone when our word meant something? Even the traditional handshake has taken a turn to weakness. ‘Lets shake on it’is no more. A solid handshake insinuates strength, just as a weak one leaves you slightly disappointed. When you reach out and grasp the palm of another, you are engaging in a silent formal agreement, an extension of your word.

As a child, the word of an adult was the gospel. Pinky Swear mimics our handshake, sealing the deal of a child. As a grown up you never wanted to let down the innocent mind and hopeful child looking deeply at you. Why as adults do we feel it acceptable to speak without actions.

I understand that things change, people make choices that can spin a promise right off its foundation. We often set out with good intention but along the way we get side tracked with that something shiny, that takes us in a direction we didn’t see coming. Our word slips through the cracks of the foundation we so easily let crumble. A foundation that took years to build. We need to think about our words before we release them to the Universe and initiate the hope said within them.

Vows are not what they used to be. I am not sure if it is a generational thing or whether some people take them to heart more than others. Kept promises are becoming a thing of the past. Our word is written in pencil so easily erased on the pages we try to write. We lack focus. We have much to distract us.

If we all take a moment to think about the words we release to those who have hope and faith in us, maybe we can change the way a promise is kept. Maybe then our handshakes will have more strength and our words more meaning.

When promises continually get broken we start to believe we are not worthy of that promise. Those who do give their word with full intention of following through lose faith in those who so easily and thoughtlessly release promises without the thought or meaning behind them.

For our words to have strength they need to start from within. We need to know who we are and what we want to allow them to take on the meaning and strength they were meant to have. We need to be honest, know our truth, and be unafraid to express it. Promises will then come in time when they are ready to be released.

I give you my word that what I write and what I say to you are words I can shake on. I mean what I say and say what I mean, do you?

Life is a Journey ~

To-Thine-Ownself-be-true-2

She was born pure at heart, mind, body and soul. She would walk a path that was to teach her lessons she so deeply needed to learn. Lessons she signed up for long before birth. She had an agreement with the Angels who were to guide her along the way. She would call upon them in times of need and trust they were at her side. She stepped into this world with her own agreement with souls who were also on a journey, crossing her path from time to time. Their adventures together would last a lifetime. Each soul that stood before her was a lesson waiting in the wings.

Guided by her Angels, she began her journey with a clear conscience that would remind her where she was safe to travel, that one day would lead her back home.

As she evolved into a strong independent young woman her life started to blossom. She spread her wings and took flight. She was not meant to always understand the path in which she traveled but to have faith it would lead her to where she was meant to be, in time. Her journey would teach her the importance of living a life true to self. A life free of ego, filled with acceptance.

“To Thine Own Self Be True” ~ Shakespeare

There was a greater plan for this free spirit that would take her decades to recognize. Her heart was filled with love, it was her purpose to share this gift with those she intuitively knew needed to feel it. She was truly born a love child.

Not always aware of the presence of her guidance she fearlessly walked where many did not. There were signs along the way that gave her an unknown source of comfort. A comfort that radiated from within her. A comfort she was soon to understand from where it came.

She is a woman with a strong sense of self. A woman who blazes trails of her own. A woman who fights for her rights. She is a woman that believes in the power of words, and the actions that follow. She gives hope to the underdog. She is a woman who is able to settle her fear, if for just a moment to allow the voices she knows to be true, lift her spirit.

She strives to make it to the end with her dignity and self respect intact. To lay on her bed of death knowing she made a difference in the lives of others. To have felt love, gave love unconditionally to those who stood before her. She is a woman who holds her values close, her morals high while reaching for the stars from out of this world into the next.

She finds herself surrounded by peace, love, faith and understanding.

She finds herself back home.

The Angel in the Clock ~

I was visiting my friend Tim via Facebook the other day and saw a post on his page with the words; The Angel in the Clock…A Fairytale about Time. How could I not click on that. Life doesn’t always give us a fairytale ending but when we do believe in childhood dreams, romance or everyday miracles of life, it gives us hope. It’s the pure innocence of believing which makes us all smile from deep within. When we stop believing in things that make our life rich and full, we stop living.

I visited The Angel in the Clock blog and loved what I read. I instantly wanted to share it on Tara Cronica. I connected with Mike Uriegas the Producer/Director and here we are! “Looking to give a stronger meaning to his work, Mike is currently developing a not-for-profit business model dedicated exclusively in sourcing funds to produce advertising for charities around the world as a mean to promote the work of thousands of people that are trying to make this world a better place.” My kinda guy!

The Angel in the Clock team is a group of outstanding, talented, passionate individuals all with a common purpose of making a difference in the lives of others. It doesn’t get much better than that!

The AngeL in the Clock

“This story follows the adventure of Amelia, an infirm girl that wants to stop time as a way to solve her delicate condition. While doing so, she meets the angel Malachi.

Malachi draws Amelia to the Fields of Time, a place beyond the mortal realm where hundreds upon hundreds of clock-castles float in the sky. In a quest to discover why time cannot be stopped, why life is worth fighting for, Amelia’s life will change forever.

A story about faith and dreams that will take your breath away.”

Enjoy the teaser…

The Angel in the Clock is a visually beautiful and audibly intriguing 4-minute animated short film promoting the cause of Childhood Cancer Canada, the country’s leading foundation dedicated to funding national research while delivering critical education, community, and connectivity programs to children with cancer and their families.

Take a moment to check out their site, you will be inspired just as I was to spread the word! It only takes one person to make a difference, it’s your turn!

“You Want Happy Ending?”

“Once Upon a time in a far away land, way up high in the hills there lived a woman who thought a man could make all her dreams come true, and then she woke up with the entire King sized bed to herself. She smiled as she stretched her leg out to the cold spot…Su-weeeeet! ”  It’s all about perspective…

I am no longer looking for a fairytale ending, a ‘happy ending’ would suffice. 😉 When it comes to fairytales it’s not that kind of ending we want, it’s the happily ever after we’re looking for. You have to be happy within yourself if you want to naturally attract someone to join you on the journey to happily ever after, which includes ‘happy endings’ by the way! Good motivation…right?

Focus on where you are right now. What makes YOU happy? I am happy when I am doing something creative, near the ocean, laughing out loud with friends, when I’m healthy, inspiring others and creating memories with my family. Add a great guy to this picture and I am happy, take him out of the picture and hey I’m still happy. Figure out what makes YOU happy first before you add someone else to the mix. A delicious life is irresistible!

I MAKE ME HAPPY ~

Romance for me has always gone hand in hand with happiness. Life is about love and not giving into fear. Fear distances us from real happiness. And romance doesn’t necessarily lead to love. You can’t control who you fall in love with and shouldn’t want to control the one you love.

Fairytales are read to us to give us hope that although life has it’s struggles, we can connect with someone along the way and ‘live happily ever after.’ They allow us to spread our wings as human beings, have faith in love and take chances. They let us believe in something wonderful…for a while until reality rears it’s ugly head!

Even when life has its way of bringing us back to reality, we can find happiness within the chaos. We just need to go back to the basics of being happy within.

Beginning are filled with flirty excitement, passion, lust and desire and all the juicy stuff. Middles are where the lessons are learned, progress is made, evolving and unfolding is done, substance is recognized, bonding occurs and romance takes a step forward towards love. As for the ending, true love has no end.

I am finally happy with who I am and can open myself to romantic adventure that makes my heart beat right out of my chest without the expectation of it being my source of happiness. Happiness starts from within, from there it is completely up to you which direction you go. Ultimately YOU choose whether or not to be happy. Regardless of whether or not there is a man romantically tied to me, I will always choose to be happy. I will live happily ever after…

The End Beginning ~

Two Wolves.

One evening an old Cherokee Chief told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

What Makes You Feel Grounded

Bonnie Johnson's PostI think it is really important to ones well-being to feel grounded.  If you do not feel grounded then you feel out of balance, stressed, harried and scattered.

When I was in my twenties and early thirties I often felt like I was ungrounded.  Life just managed to pull me in too many directions at once.  My trick to get back to feeling grounded in those days was to go and stay with my grandparents for awhile.  They always lived in out of the way quiet places and their life style was slow and calm.  It felt so good to melt in with their pace for awhile.  Now that they are both gone I have had to come up with other ways to feel grounded.

I think being grounded means that our body and mind are integrated and to accomplish that it’s important to take yourself out of your own head a bit.  Most of us live too much in our heads and lose awareness of the rest.  I’ve discovered a whole bunch of different ways to feel grounded again and here are a few of my favourites:

1.  Notice nature.  Even little things like walking on the grass barefoot, studying a spider at work in its web, watching a robin pull a worm, playing with my dog, etc.

2.  Hanging out with my best friend.  Talking or not.  Just being with someone you know so well and trust completely can be very therapeutic.

3.  Cuddling with my husband.   Feeling love wrap around you…can it get any better than that?!

4.  Meditating.  Breathing deeply and focusing on nothingness.  Can’t feel scattered when you do that.

5.  Exercising to great music.  That’s why I love going to Zumba class so much.

How about you Jacquie and Tracy?  What makes you feel grounded?

post-insert-jacquie1

In high school I remember being introduced to basic psychological concepts having to do with maintaining mental equilibrium and what could happen it they were to suddenly disappear.  We all intuitively accept that when we go to sit on a chair it’s going to hold us up.  We have implicit trust in the structural integrity of that chair not to let us fall.  Sure, sometimes a leg does break and we take a tumble, but we can rationalize that it was old, or a joint gave way, and so we don’t lose faith that the next time we bend to sit that chair will hold firm again.  Can you imagine what life would be like if we couldn’t trust these basic tenets?  Frightening.  We’d be second guessing every step we’d want to take or every move we’d want to make and our nerves would be shot.

So,  faith and trust ground me when I feel I’m starting to float away and lose that gravitational pull.  Faith that the people I love know my heart and understand me, and trust that most people in my life really do have the best of intentions and are honest and intrinsically good.  If I didn’t believe this then it would be like living in a vacuum.

Being grounded is not a natural state for an artist, I think.  I’m always on the move, dreaming and scheming and planning and pushing, and this sometimes leads to feeling disappointed and adrift.  Setting up the easel and painting is good way for me to refocus, but it’s ultimately the conviction of my own thoughts that gets me back on track.   Whatever method you use to eliminate distractions it’s still your own head that makes the choice between calm and confusion.   The trick is to be honest with yourself, even if you can’t be with others.  Ask yourself the hard questions and expect hard answers.  It’s the only way to grow.

TracyGreat topic Bonnie, especially because after spending 10 days with you and John I felt just that.  It’s so important to stay grounded and finding ways to do that is the key.  For a free spirited Aquarian that can sometimes be difficult.

What makes me feel most grounded is when I spent time with close friends.  I always leave feeling grounded and centered once again.  Certain people in my life just seem to have a grounding effect on me.  Life can so easily get out of balance with how busy we make our lives, so you have to take time with those who bring you back to your roots.

My kids ground me daily and show me what is most important in life, which is living in the moment and just opening your eyes to what is right in front of you!

When I help someone I also feel a sense of grounding, it makes you realize that the little things in life that you do for others makes your life feel balance just a little bit more.  Meditation is also a great way to get reconnected to the earth.  My favorite form of meditation is running while listening to inspirational music.  After a good long run I feel like my slate has been cleared.
