Embracing Who You Are ~

I have a lot going on in my life at the moment so the word change is ringing in my ears LOUD once again! Change is good…right? Closing one door to open another. I have been unfocused walking in a daze for a while. Can you say Monkey Brain! Nothing I can’t handle just lots of stuff happening at once.

Bonnie posted about The 3 A’s of Awesome last Sunday for our Svaha Spirit Series and although I didn’t watch the TEDtalk on Sunday it changed the way I viewed my life the moment I did. You NEED to watch it! I guarantee you will look at YOUR life with new awareness! Attitude, Awareness and Authenticity! Three very powerful words indeed!

I have been contemplating changing the way I write here on Tara Cronica for the last month or so. I have been wondering if I want to put myself out there anymore. I have shared myself extensively for the last 4 years. Although change seems to be coming at me in all directions, I think I just have to embrace the me I know and love. I am aware, I have a great attitude (99% of the time) and as far as I know I’m pretty darn authentic. I am occasionally unfocused, too passionate, lack patience, a little stubborn and think wayyyyyyyy too much about things I have no control over. I don’t always take my own advice but hey I’m human!

When I think of all the awesomeness my life has in it, none of the obstacles that were making me feel this way seem to matter as much! Awesome is right! It’s really all about perspective. I think we sometimes need to go deep in order to go home. I have gone to the depths I’m slightly uncomfortable with and have safely arrived back to the surface.

I have decided to embrace me for who I am which includes the questionable bits! I clearly have some work to do, but don’t we all? I like who I am for the most part and I love me. I question who I am and what I’m doing just like everyone else. When I do wander down this path there are a few things that help.

  • I take a deep breath.
  • Spray Rescue Remedy under my tongue.
  • Go for a run.
  • Listen to music.
  • Share with my incredible team of support.

My Mom has amazing advice 🙂 Bonnie calms my soul, The Chicksters are there every week no-matter what listening and giving their perspective, Carri makes EVERYTHING funny even when it shouldn’t be, Scott gives me the male perspective, You inspire me to write with your comments and continued support and all is well again. There is no judging, only understanding, listening and support! I love you all!

I am who I am and why I questioned it in the first place is a mystery! Embrace the quirky in you, it is what makes you unique.

Life is meant to be shared, not only with others but who you are. A friend of mine reminded me how important it is to just enjoy who I am right now. He said “You have less tomorrows than you do yesterdays” (thanks P.D)

So lets get this party started shall we!

Eyes Wide Shut ~

Have you ever noticed when somethings on your mind its all you seem to focus on? If you’re thinking about buying a motorcycle for example, they appear every where you look. If you’re trying to make babies, you see nothing but cute little people everywhere! Ya I know, two very different examples, but hey…different is good! Is it the Law of Attraction or are we just opening our eyes and becoming aware?

Have you ever thought about someone and at that moment the phone rings and its them? Or you run into someone you haven’t seen in years just as you were thinking about them? These sort of things have been happening to me since I can remember.

Every thought is made up of energy so it makes perfect sense really. I think we all get caught up in our daily routines and we tune out in general. We are unaware, closed down, running on auto pilot. We have become comfortably numb. WAKE UP! When was the last time you stood underneath a Cherry Tree in full bloom and just admired the buds about to explode. We can’t just keep walking by or tuning out the world that surrounds us.

I think our conscious mind gets lost when we keep ignoring the simple treasures that present themselves to us. We are full of fragmented thoughts bubbling over while we try to make sense of our busy day.

Meditation opens up the mind and clears those thoughts, allowing the mind to be free of clutter. When our conscious mind get full we are blinded and stop seeing the beauty that is swirling around us. The obvious becomes transparent. We have our Eyes Wide Shut.

Meditation doesn’t have to be the traditional sitting with legs crossed. It can be riding your motorcycle, reading, running, yoga, painting or simply listening to music. I know it’s hard for some people to just sit and do nothing but the more you do, you will see how much more clarity your life will have. You will feel the calm envelope you and appreciate the silence! Its like spring cleaning of the mind, organizing thoughts, dreams or wishes. And when you focus on what’s important in your life, you will reap the benefits of awakening your mind.

Becoming aware is a way of tuning back in. When we focus on our surroundings they become alive. When we trust and listen to the thoughts that appear out of nowhere, and react to them, we strengthen our intuitive ability. When we open our eyes and mind to the truth, its like a gift from the Universe. If we can consciously awaken to the life that surrounds us, and truly be in the moment, we may be surprised at what is right there in front of us! Open your eyes if just for a moment…and see!

Svaha Spirit Series: We Day ~

Marc and Craig Kielburger, founders of Free The Children’s We Day, came to Vancouver last Thursday to join forces with students from B.C who are all leaders in their own communities! Participants included Al Gore, Martin Sheen, Hedley, Ethan Zohn from Survivor, Colbie Caillat, Rick Hanson, Spencer West, Phillippe Cousteau, and Reverend Jesse L. Jackson! What an inspiration! It’s never too early to get involved and never to late to be inspired! These guys are inspiring our youth of today to stand up, speak out and believe that they too can make a difference, NOW!

It’s more than just one day of celebration and inspiration. It’s a one-of-a-kind event and part of an innovative year-long program created to celebrate the power of young people to create positive change in the world.

The event kicks off a year-long program of action, called We Schools in Action. We Day is free of charge and open to any school that wants to be part of the experience. In exchange, each school group that attends is asked to make a commitment to follow the We Schools in Action program, which includes taking local and global action throughout the year.

Since 2007, youth from across North America have come together to discover the passion they have in common, to celebrate their successes, to become aware of new challenges, and to build lasting friendships. The We Day events feature speeches and performances from global leaders and social activists, cultural icons and entertainers.” Quoted directly from the We Day website!  Enjoy!

Being Human ~

Happy Birthday Christopher John!

Human beings are complex creatures if you really think about it. We can love passionately one moment and feel intense pain the next. Most of us walk through life completely unaware of what our purpose is until we meet someone who inspires us to find it. These sorts of people are sprinkled throughout the world waiting to help those who are unaware. I had a synchronistic meeting with one of those wonderful human spirits just the other day and he gave me a gift that can’t even be translated into words yet, I am still processing our connection. I promise I will share more with you at a later date. 🙂

There are also those who are here to get as much as they can, they’re not fussy what they get as long as they get great quantities of it. I describe these beings as “food” because they’re just here taking up space waiting to be planted six feet under, to be fed back to earth and start again. Hopefully next time they will open their eyes and see what’s out there and the potential they have to make a difference.

We can be self absorbed, self-centred, unappreciative and wasteful. We can be driven by greed, money and materialism. Some of us live in fear without trust and step backwards more than forward. But change and awareness is on its way, for the betterment of all human beings! If we want Mother Earth to be here for generations to come we need to listen. We need to wake up to what is really important, the survival of our planet! If our planet survives so do we. We need to stop believing everything we hear and start trusting our instinct and intuition.

‘Life is about choices and consequences’ We are all capable of making choices, we make them every day. With each choice, there is a consequence, it’s that simple. With every Action there is a Reaction.

I’ve come a long way because of choices I’ve made in my life. Having children was a choice that changed my life. I believe they are here to help change the world! My life took on an entirely different meaning, my heart opened up larger than I could have ever imagined. I became aware of what I would be leaving behind for my children, a future far beyond my lifetime. If I didn’t pay attention to my choices the consequences would surely affect them as well. What I did with my life became more important. I made a conscious choice to teach my kids that life is what you make it, and every single human being on this planet is able to help make change. It’s never too late to make changes that will benefit our world and the people in it.

We are all aware of the changes being implemented in ‘Going Green’ these changes have become the norm which shows us that we can make a huge impact on our planet if we put our resources together. We have become aware, which is a start, but we need to go further than that. We need be aware of the energy of the human spirit to make the biggest difference. Each thought that enters our mind, each word that rolls off our tongue changes something or someone around us. It’s our choice if we want it to be of a positive nature.

Gini Gentry’s teachings stem from the heart of Toltec wisdom. “Don’t go against yourself”, “Don’t create circumstances that go against yourself” and “Don’t align yourself with someone who goes against you”. By doing these three things you empower your human spirit.

I just went to Gini’s facebook page and have share her status because I think its perfect!

“To reclaim our authentic nature, we need great clarity and awareness to accurately observe our lives. Once we do that, we can begin to dismantle the beliefs that obstruct being in truth and living from the heart. We step away from our impeccability when we deny that we are the source of love we are seeking and don’t speak and act from this truth.” Gini Gentry

“Our lives are the sum total of the choices we have made” Wayne Dyer

I am being human, I am making choices that don’t go against myself…are you?
