On Monday I let it all hang out when I exposed my undying love and devotion for a certain 70’s pop idol. At great risk of totally losing any legitimacy as a ….well, a grown up, I’m going to have to lay another one on you all here again; I’m a Twi-Mom and I’ve been looking forward to the midnight opening of the Twilight saga’s New Moon ever since my girlfriend Cheryl told me she was going to get tickets for us over a month ago.

The movie opened in wide release in the States this week, but here in Vancouver we’ve had to wait an extra couple of days. For the rain to hit. For the wind to pick up. For the temperature to drop. The stage is set, and now all that is left to do is grab our warmest long winter coats and our Starbucks and hope the other Twi-Moms and teenagers don’t try to start the line up too early! I may be crazy to want to go to a midnight show, not so crazy that the idea of standing in a freezing queue for hours doesn’t sound ridiculous. But I’m going to do what it takes because I won’t be alone, and isn’t that the point, anyway? Doing silly stuff with friends and making new memories together and sharing a laugh?
Nahhhhhhhh!!! It’s all about the steamy love triangle between these three hot-blooded teens (technically, Edward the vampire’s blood would be cold), animalistic attraction and searingly passionate, unconsummated love. It’s like…Dark Shadows meets the Partridge Family and I want a front row seat for all the action. Not really, I like to be mid way up and to the left a bit, off center. I want to be there with Cheryl and Sheila, and assorted younger generation members related to our group who validate our presence, because I was captivated by the characters in the books and the story was just so compelling.
I feel myself slipping into justification mode and I’m not sure I want to do that. It’s almost 2 am and I’m starting to get a bit punchy and want to write things I may, nay, I will look back on and regret. Things like “that Robert Pattinson is so hot!” OH, I almost forgot, last week Sunday, when my girlfriend Celia and I went to Los Angeles, we used her travel points and got into 1st class. I mention this because when we were in the air I was reading the latest copy of Life & Style magazine which contained an article about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and an apparent ‘adventure’ in the sky that took place the previous Sunday on our same airline, same flight 704, in 1st class, from Vancouver to LA. That meant we could have been sitting in the seats that the two stars of New Moon made out in…..OK, I thought it was worth mentioning at the time. A week later and now it seems kinda lame. Hey, it’s late and I’m running out of steam! I better sign off before I TMZ myself to shreds.
Loved chatting with you all again,

Wow, you truly have been “bitten” by the Twilight craze.
Sounds like fun though, just to do something out of the box for a “40 something” …and so past my bedtime!
I bought the first movie for my *cough* step-granddaughter and really enjoyed it so I’m actually looking forward to seeing “New Moon” too! Besides, I’m still only 18 when I close my eyes.
It’s at 10, not midnight, so we have 2 less hours to wait!
Really! That’s fantastic! So I stayed up until 2 am gearing myself up for the punishingly late night for nothing? Geez! Do I have coagulated hemoglobin on my face!
Bonnie, not only am I still 18 when I close my eyes but my stretch marks are gone, too…
