Svaha Spirit Series ~ Snowflakes & Snow Crystals

December 20th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Jacquie's Posts, Svaha Spirit Series~Sunday

Jacquie JanzenYeeWe had a bit of snow fall last week.  Sure, it caused a few accidents, and I hope no one was seriously hurt because of it, but it really did look beautiful as it fell in the soft twilight. There is something about a snowfall that always makes me think of my childhood and those carefree days when school was out and the park was full of bundled neighbourhood friends.

These pictures show real snow crystals that fell to earth in Northern Ontario, Alaska, Vermont, the Michigan Upper Peninsula, and the Sierra Nevada mountains of California.  They were captured by Kenneth G. Libbrecht using a specially designed snowflake photo-microscope.

Check out SnowCrystals.com to see more gorgeous examples of stunning, real snowflakes.

When looking at the snow crystals they reminded me of the mandalas I’ve been studying over the past several weeks. I love when ideas and events become interconnected, and these snowflakes have extra meaning to me because of this connection.

The mandala, as I’ve mentioned before, represents the whole, the universe and is a symbol found in art and religious spaces all over the planet. The circle is calming, meditative.

These are only two of the  many crystal mandalas I’ve found on different websites.

Nature comes full circle once again!

They are beautiful Jake, I too think back to being a child when I see them, it’s like looking in your kaleidoscope, every kid had one, didn’t they? I am inspired to do my own Mandala! If you look up water intention you will find photos similar to the snow flakes when music is played in the room while the crystals form, very interesting indeed !!

Nature is truly the most profound artist ever!

Snowflakes are such perfection and it is good to look at them individually and enjoy their beauty instead of being overwhelmed by what a heap of them can do to our roads.
