Oh for Pete’s sake! I just read that the singer, soon to be actress, Charice just got botox for her first ever TV role. The girl is a very pretty 18 years old!
Charice is that incredible young singer from the Philippines who created a sensation on YouTube and then found herself singing on Oprah and the Ellen DeGeneres show. It was announced a few weeks ago that she would be showing up on the next season of Glee, much to my delight. The girl has an amazing voice, for sure, but it’s also her personal story that just makes you want to see her succeed.
Growing up in a poor neighbourhood, Charice used to sing in local competitions with the hopes of winning a few dollars to help out her working mom. A small monetary prize would mean they could buy pizza a few times a month, one of her favourite treats. How sweet. Now some Hollywood hotshot may have convinced her she needs to buy into the skinny, plastic standards we’ve come to love and hate.
Apparently, she felt her Asian face was too round and the botox (and another skin tightening treatment) would give her more angles. Groan. I hope people watch her on the show for her voice. We’ll see how she does as an actress. I just hope she doesn’t get sucked up and ruined by the starlet machine that turns lovely young people into personality-less clones and zaps them of their individuality. Maybe Oprah needs to have a talk with this girl. Remind her how far she’s come on talent and to stick to the program.

Stop perpetuating all the bullshit stories in the media and get a damn grip on reality. If you actually believe that crap you just wrote, you’re pathetic. Are you that starved for readers?
There are many examples of pretty young girls in Hollywood getting unnecessary plastic surgery (Heidi Montag)because they think they have to ‘fit in’. I didn’t find the story unrealistic and I think you have to look at the bigger point that was being made. But thanks for dropping by : )
