Mrs. Gone Had To Go

I love it here.  I love it there.
I love it e-v-e-r-y-where.
I hate to leave, I hate to stay.
If only there was two of me today.

Do I sound like a Dr. Seuss character?  I know if I’ve had too much wine the night before I start to look a bit like Foo Foo the Snoo. (John can attest to this.)

Foo Foo the Snoo

We are preparing to leave our down south home y’all and head back to our home in the land of hockey and Tim Bits, eh.   Yes, the time has come to put away the hand guns and politely reach instead for a double double.

I am at once excited and saddened by our leaving/arriving.  Do you see my conundrum?  I’m perfectly split.  I’m coming and going at exactly the same time.  When I’m here, I miss there and when I’m there, I miss here.  And so it is that I’ve come to believe I am a living character within a Dr. Seuss-like story. I’m Thing One and Thing Two. I think my Seuss name would be something like “Bonabout Gone”.

Mrs. Gone had to go,
it was written as so.
She’d stay if she could;
if she were told that she should.
Each place has a hold,
there’s that one with the mold,
but the other place says that it’s time
to escape all the crime
and come back to the cold!

Bonabout needs to get in a little bit more shopping and then start packing her bags.  One house must be polished and wrapped, bug sprayed and sealed.  One house will need all the windows opened and a half a year worth of dust wiped away.  One fridge must be emptied and the other one filled.

Goodbye hugs will be shared and some tears may be shed
but then
the other home will welcome us back there instead.

Don’t think I’m complaining; cause that’d need some explaining…
After all, I live a life full of fun
and I relax in warm sun.

I’m feeling very Seuss-ish and can relate well to his classic Oh, The Places You’ll Go:

Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying.
You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing.
With banner flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high!
Ready for anything under the sky.

On and on you will hike, And I know you’ll hike far
and face up to your problems whatever they are.

You’ll get mixed up of course, as you already know.
You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go.

So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
And remember that Life’s a great balancing act.

Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.

– Or mix up your north with your south.  So it’s time once again for me to ride high! But in which house did I leave my old flip-flapping banner?

Happy Friday the 13th! (Watch out for black cats – or those wearing tall hats)
