I Gotta Feeling!

Bonnie Johnson's PostThis song by the Black Eyed Peas has been a big hit this past summer.  It’s special to me too because Tracy and I heard it for the first time during her stay with me here in Vernon in July.  The two of us would “seat dance” to it if we heard it on the radio while we were driving somewhere.  This would always embarrass her son but her daughter joined in enthusiastically.  Ahhh…passing along our goofy moves to the innocent while distressing an eleven year old boy was too much fun!

I have had the song stuck in my head all summer and that’s not a bad thing.  It feels like a great mantra really.

“I gotta feeling… that today’s going to be a good day,… that today’s going to be a good good day… Woo Hoo.”

What a great thing to sing to yourself!  It’s impossible to not want to move along to the music.  It’s too full of fun and freedom.  I was excited when I found this video of the Black Eyed Peas performing a special live version of I Gotta Feeling for Oprah while a flash mob of synchronized dancers groove on Michigan Avenue downtown Chicago, IL USA. The performance was at Oprah’s 24th Season Kickoff Party on September 8, 2009.

I’m sure that if everyone sang this song to themselves at the beginning of everyday (and perhaps a few times during) they could only have a good day.  Give it a try.  Sing the words and make it your new mantra.  And if anyone is interested in learning how to dance like the crowd in the clip, follow this link for a lesson.

  1. OMG!!!!!! As soon as the video started I wondered like everyone else I’m sure “whats wrong with those people all staring at the girl in the blue like she’s nuts” I would have been her for sure !!!!! All I could think was “let it rip girl!!” Jesse would have left but Jo would be right beside me givin’er !!! Can you imagine actually being there for that !!!! WOW that was fantastic ! That will start every-one’s day who takes the 4 minutes to see that video !! Thanks Bon for that GREAT (yes I yelled) video and making the smile on my face right now as big as it could possibly get! Love you !! T xoxoxoo

  2. I can’t imagine the logistics of arranging all those people and teaching them the dance ~ without Oprah knowing about it! I saw this on Twitter and immediately thought “that’s a Bonnie post” so I had to laugh when I got up this morning and found it here. I love it when the world comes together and dances…like the old (and I mean really old!) Coke commercials. Great video!

  3. That was a lot of fun….. Stress Break For Sure ! I for one missed out on this song this summer. Being to busy to always put on tunes is something I’m guilty of far to often…. I’ll be less guilty of it today as I have now put this song into my favorites list. Thanks Bonnie for sharing this fun time you and Tracy and the kids had this summer !

Too Cool ! Great Song !

  4. Thanks for posting that – great song, and great video. Can’t imagine how long it would’ve taken to train everyone to dance this. I was thinking at first it was trained dancers, but then when you see ALL the people….WOW! Super cool, and I’m with Jacquie – I love it when people come together and dance – fun, fun, fun!

  5. OM GOSH!!!
